Ladies and gents and everyone who doesn’t care about gender names: I need you! ;)

I have wanted a pair of the classic two tone ballet flats for years. It hurts me to read that they only cost about €300 a few years ago but ah well price hikes are what they are and I have saved up and I’m willing to spend the new in-store price to get a pair. I’ve tried secondhand but if u want them in great condition they almost costs as much as in store so I’d rather try them on and get the boutique treatment.

they didn’t have them in stock when I checked many many times so I ended up trying on the slingbacks with a medium heel and liked them a lot! They did look a bit more grown up and would be fine for an evening out whereas I feel the flats would always look a bit girly-ish when you are out on a Saturday night or wearing a fancier outfit (Im 32 and living the single life if that’s any help).

it took weeks but now suddenly both styles are available in my size I cannot decide for the life of me which style I like better!

ballet or slingbacks? Which will last forever? Which will go with most outfits? The slingbacks are 200€ more - ja that worth it? Can the fabric cap be repaired (I would imagine leather can be fixed if there is wear and tear...)?

another problem is the sizing: I have a vintage pair of ballet flats in black in my usual size EU37 and the patent toe cap hurts my big toe. If I get half a size up I slip out with my heel though and feel like I don’t wanna get a shoe that needs extra gel pads etc to stay on my feet. Will the beige black flats be better because the leather cap is softer than patent?

If there is anyone who had issues with their normal size being tight and the next half size up being too big: please let me know what you did!

also: I tried to google the exact shoe exchange policy for boutiques. If I end up with the wrong size can I exchange for another one? If they don’t have the size will I get store credit or a refund?

If the patent toe cap hurts your big toe, tread carefully. Fabric toe caps do not give and sling backs wear differently. I have a very high instep, bought slingbacks and had a total failure. When walking outside the shoe did not stay on comfortably. The sling back is not for every shape of foot. Good luck!

They are both lovely; I say get one pair now and the other pair later (or both now if you can!).

I always have a problem with luxury shoes being too narrow in the toe box for me; for Chanel ballerinas I always get a 38 even though I’m a 37 in something like sneakers or sandals. My heel does slip out a bit, and I just live with it, because it’s comfortable whereas I couldn’t stand the pinched toes. So in your case I would get the half size larger. (And btw, I find no difference in comfort between regular leather and patent toes.)

Slingbacks! And agree on sizing up. I’m usually 38 but in the slingbacks had to size up to 38.5. Highly recommend going into the boutique to see what feels most comfortable for you.

Thanks everyone! I tried both on and the slingbacks turned out to be so uncomfortable it’s now a tie between two sizes of the ballet flats. I am going to open a new thread because I need everyone with a size EU37 to chime in ❤️
