I've been very good to myself lately but I suppose it's okay to plan for the next purchase (just planning! :graucho:).

I first eyed a bow ring from Zales a few months ago (hey, I'm an equal opportunity jewelry lover!) but I also like the twisted bow ring from Tiffany's.

I'm thinking of wearing it occassionally, and it would be on my right index finger.

Which one do you guys like better? Anyone have either one?

Did you try the one on from Tiffany's? It doesn't look comfortable and looks like it might catch on just about everything.........though a very fun look for the index finger. In the pic the Zales one looks nice...........which one do you prefer since you're still in the planning stage:amuse:

I vote for the Tiffany ring. I just think that with SS, it will be a PITA to clean the Zales version around the diamonds, which may result in it looking "dirtier" than what it really is, if that makes any sense. I like them both equally, but overall maintenance is what I formed my opinion on. HTH! :smile1:

Bagaday - I haven't tried either on, unfortunately. Maybe I can plan to make a trip to Tiffany's soon to do a test drive!

digby723 - I don't have prior experience with diamonds in SS. Is that normally an issue? Is it the silver-diamonds combo that's the issue, or just silver in general? I've noticed that for some reason my Tiffany's silver pieces do not tarnish while my other silver pieces do...

I'm a Tiffany girl through and through but......I kind of prefer the Zales design. :shrugs: I like the softer less bowy more feminine look of the Zales and it does seem to have less catch opportunity than the Tiffany, which might be important for the index finger. Are they real diamonds? Seems like a really good price if so. I would definitely go check them both out in person and see which makes you smile brighter. I personally wear the Tiffany Diamond Bow Ring on my right hand middle finger daily and LOVE it. I smile every time I see it. Good luck deciding! And please do share some modeling pictures when you get your new beauty, whichever way you go.

From everything I've read on the forum, combining SS & diamonds is a no-no for most. Since SS tarnishes, it can be a PITA to clean around the diamonds/their settings, which can lead to the piece looking dirtier than what it actually is. This isn't really a problem with gold, since although it can get dirty, it doesn't tarnish like SS does. I'd wait for some more people/experts to chime in, but I've always read that it's best to avoid this type of combination. :smile1:

Also, I can't try on the Zales ring b/c it is a made-to-order piece, which means it's non-returnable... hmmmm... that might be the deciding factor!

Edit - Actually, I take that back. It is a special order item, but it doesn't say it's non-returnable (though I thought I read that on their website previously)!

Also, yes, it's real diamonds (0.25 cttw), though probably not great quality.

I like the Zales version. The design of the bow is really cool! I might be biased because I have a similar bow ring (with CZs), and everyone always comments on it.

As for the SS + diamonds issue, my 2 cents is that tarnish might be an issue, but I own quite a few diamond in sterling pieces, and they have not tarnished noticeably. The quality of any diamonds in sterling will not be very good, but even low quality diamonds are nice and sparkly.

I like the bow better on the Zales piece.

And although I've never owned silver with diamonds, isn't there a silver polishing dip that is supposed to clean things without any rubbing? Would something like that work to remove any tarnish from the nooks and crannies? Otherwise, if you really love the piece you can do what a person would do with any plated piece and take it in for occasional rhodium dips.
