November 30th the prices will be going down on many engagement rings but probably not all of them. This doesn't apply to silver or other fashion jewelry designs so if you plan on purchasing an engagement ring from Tiffany's soon wait until the 30th!

You're crappin me. This is totally amazing good news for my DBF. Gosh, should i tell him or not? Do you know when the price will go up again? Is this something unheard of...the price going down? Have they ever had their prices go down?

Prices on UK site have gone up about £10 - £15. Last time prices went up it was about £5. The silver bead bracelet which my DH bought me about 4 years ago has gone up £60 since then :wtf: I've asked DH for a Elsa Perreti silver band ring with Saphire, now a week ago it was £145 now its £160. I really hope if he's got me one he got it a week or more ago. I bought the same ring but with the diamond back in March for £180 now its £200, its madness. I do love it though.

It's the first time I've ever heard of prices going down at Tiffany's in the past few years but I think it has happened before. If you think about it, it makes sense since the price of diamonds and precious metals are driven by demand and during a recession there is much less demand for them as compared to necessities like food and clothes. A good example of this would be cars, every where I look I see cars on sale now. It's because there is less demand for them since people are catching the bus due to the high price of gas.
Anyway, the price reduction is only on engagement rings and not fashion jewelry since those have the highest profit margins and are still their best sellers. Also as far as I know it only applies to the U.S.
As for the price going up? I would predict that it would be once sales begin to pick up again or before the next major holiday.

When i was in Europe in june the prices on engagement rings were decreased because of exchange rates. So these things do happen. But i think this drop will be due to the lack of demand as TylerDurden has mentioned.

oooh... by how much, do you know? We lost the boutique on my side of the island, so i'm wondering if it's worth drive to go look at stuff in store....

I think it will be 5-10% but it won't show on the website since it only applies to unique pieces i.e. diamond earrings and pendants. Since every piece is different they don't have have each one on the website. It might say something like "starting at $800...." whereas it used to say "starting at $900..." on the website.
