Omg, I totally forgot that I bought this whistle, and I got it engraved too! I’ve never worn it, though. It’s in a random box somewhere. I think it’s a cool gift for someone who’s a coach or PE teacher. I myself am not athletic at all, but I thought the whistle had a lot of personality and was the quirkiest thing.
I think the reason why I don’t wear it is because it’s prone to tarnishing. I don’t know what it looks like now, since it’s been years of me keeping the whistle in a random box. However, I recall that there was some type of residue ring that was left from where my mouth went over the whistle. The tarnishing annoyed me, so I never wore it, because I felt like it was a lot of maintenance for an item that I can’t actually use. I also recall getting it shortened, because the chain length was a bit weird to me. Also, not sure if there was something else about it that was somewhat annoying. Like maybe it was that the ball jangled too much? Or that the whistle protrudes a lot? I don’t know.
Maybe I can get the whistle gold plated into vermeil? Never done that before, but I think it would solve the tarnishing issues. So, at least aesthetically, I’d be more okay with it. I asked a local jeweler about it once, for a different silver piece, but they said they can’t gold plate over silver because it requires a special machine.

I’ve strongly considered this one. But I would take it off the chain and use with an antique gold chain

You should definitely find it. I also have too many things in boxes too that I don't know they exist.....
