Hello folks!
I figured if there's one place where I can get an informed and thoughtful answer, it's from the lovely folks on tPF.
So, I have saved enough to purchase a pair of Tiffany Victoria Earrings in the large size.
However, I am also IN LOVE with the vintage Alhambra VCA when I tried them on. I think they were the vintage, but could have been the sweet. I can't remember now.
I would prefer to purchase one HG pair of earrings that I can wear everyday and yet it'll take me from morning to night.
I do subscribe to the idea of buy once, cry once vs settle and cry forever.

What is everyone's thoughts?

Definitely the VCA because I strongly feel you can get a non-branded pair of Victoria earrings for much less than Tiffany’s price

I thought so too, but apparently it's very difficult to get 4 marquis diamonds that are cut perfectly and avoid the bow tie effect of the marquis.
I've asked a few jewelers about making these earrings and they all said it was not something they felt comfortable doing.
Maybe some folks on here can chime in if they've found good non-tiffany versions of those earrings.

Is it love or lust?
As you value the quality of the diamonds/design, why not go for the Victoria's and make the VCA's a future purchase? To me, they're two different looks. I don't know that I could wear the VCA's with a formal look, but I could wear the Victoria's day to night. I see the VCA's everywhere now, even on young girls. That makes them feel more casual to me. The Victoria's are sophisticated. Especially in the large size. A wow of a piece, actually.

Thanks very much for the thoughtful analysis!
It's funny, I don't really see the VCA's on everyone. But, I certainly see your point.
I'll be purchasing these items second hand, so I won't be unloading a ton of cash on either purchase. However, the VCA's are almost double what I'd pay for the Tiffany's, so that means a lot of extra saving!
I think I need to try them on in person to really get a feel for the effect :)

Thanks again!

I've been on this forum for years, and it's so wonderful to see veterans like papertiger chime in!
I love seeing familiar faces. Thanks for your input!

Yay to Victoria earrings! I practice buy once, cry once vs settle and cry forever, just like you!
I took forever to decide between the medium and large but I am just so happy that I went with the large at the end. I love how sophisticated the Victoria line is. Also, I picked frivole over VA for a little drama :P

Thank you but I'm actually completely new to Tiffany. I have traditionally bought British, Italian or French jewellery and have only a large rg broach and Elsa Peretti yg/pearl chain earrings from Tiffany.

Certain Cartier and VCA pieces are just too 'everywhere' for me atm. I'm not saying I wouldn't cherish any given as a gift but I just - can't buy for myself. I once went from a meeting with 2 women wearing Alhambra pieces to lawyer's office and counted 3 wearers from receptionist to clients, went to afternoon tea and Love bracelets outnumbered tables. Nothing wrong with these lines at all, it's just getting a bit 'crowded'. Once I noticed I can't stop,

I agree that good jewellery should be worn and made the most of, a pair of pretty earrings are the most useful because people see them every time they look at your face (that and rings because we can admire them ourselves). These pieces become identified with the wearer so we all need to choose wisely. There is no harm in buying both eventually, just starting with one that's most versatile and adding the others later.
