Hi,

Hubby agrees to letting me have an upgrade on my ring. Question is, I can't decide which one to go for. It's a one time deal and it has to be something I will be in love with forever. My current ring is the Classic Solitaire in 0.47 carat. I don't want anything huge. Went to Tiffany yesterday and tried on some rings. I've always had a soft spot for the Ribbon ring. The size I tried on was 0.55 and it looked great. I also tried on the Soleste in 0.7?? Can't remember but it also looked nice. I also tried on a 1 carat Classic Solitaire but I didn't like it as I'm not a huge fan of thick bands. I do like the Round Brilliant with bead set band but my friends have a good point: any jeweller can make a similar ring like that, not everyone would notice right away that it's Tiffany. But no jeweller can ever recreate a Ribbon ring or Soleste. I also wanted to try on the Embrace but they didn't have it and they also didn't have the Round Brilliant bead set border. Anyways, I'm quite set on either the Ribbon or the Soleste. And I would like it in the 0.55-0.80carat range. Nothing bigger as the bigger carats looked too big and didn't look as nice. So, question is, Ribbon or Soleste? Which one stands the best of time? Soleste is still quite new. Will halos/double halos be a timeless classic? Is the Ribbon not timeless/classic enough and just more stylish? Will the Ribbon still look good on a 40 or 50 yr old hand?? What do you ladies think? Thanks in advance!

the ribbon ring and soleste are both beautiful in smaller carat weights the legacy is also very nice!

I agree get one of the designs you mentioned. I have never seen the ribbon ring recreated anywhere close to how tiffany makes it!

Does one accommodate your wedder better than the other?

And whichever you choose - could the other (either from
Tiffany or recreated by a jeweller) be a future RHR as an anniversary gift?

They're TOTALLY different looks, so you have to decide which style you like better. I don't find either timeless, though. I think solitaires are really the only truly timeless option but you can get one of those anywhere and they're not always "truly special" looking. So get what you want, and don't worry about 40 years from now.

Yes the legacy is very nice! In fact, a good friend of mine has it in aquamarine. Too bad really square diamonds don't look good on my hand.

They both look equally the same w my wedding band. I have the Elsa Peretti platinum band w diamond. I also can wear it w my semi eternity anniversary band.

And sadly, I doubt Hubby would agree to getting the other as RHR anytime soon. Lol! He made me choose, Tiffany upgrade or Chanel. Lol! Since there's an expiry on the upgrade opportunity, Chanel must wait...:(. Which means when he gets me Chanel, prices will have already gone up...and because we have another baby on the way, it makes it harder for him to do both.

Thanks Ame! You are right. Timeless would be a solitaire but the Ribbon or the Soleste would look special. Question is I still can't decide! Lol!

This! :)

Between the Ribbon and Soleste, I prefer the look of the Soleste more. But I ADORE that classic solitaire!! Maybe pair one in .75 or so with a bead wedding band? Or it wold be divine with a micropave thin diamond band?

I agree with Greentea, solitaire is classic and diamond band is so nice and sparkly! Between Soleste and Ribbon I'd pick Soleste, but they're both beautiful. I don't know about 40 years from now, but worry about that in 40 years....
I reset my original diamond a few times trying to get a blingier look, when I now think I should have gotten a diamond band to get the look I was after. Maybe a wedding band upgrade would be something to think about instead of the engagement ring. Good luck!

When I did my upgrade I also considered the Soleste, but in the end I stuck with the solitaire. But I hope to someday have the Soleste as a RHR.

My friend has the Ribbon and it is truly gorgeous! I also saw a Legacy the other day and it is very elegant as well. I guess I am not helping much but my vote is for Ribbon or Legacy as ering :)

I have a ribbon ring of 0.66ct and a classic solitaire of 0.83ct and love them both. Soleste is on my wishlist as well but I prefer as RHR. Both classic solitaire and ribbon would be lovely ering

I vote Ribbon!

Would you consider a three stone? They are classic but different than solitaires.

I have yet to see a knock-off of the bead set border ring too. I love the combination of round and baguette cut diamonds... Who cares if the average person does not know it is Tiffany?
