While my wishlist is brimming to the top, this holiday shopping season I'm trying to appreciate the things I already have and bring some new life to pieces that I don't wear anymore. I am doing some business travel in NYC and decided to bring my Tiffany silver with me to take advantage of the quick on-site repairs and the amazingly dreamy 5th avenue store! Six floors of heaven!
Like most middleschoolers in the late 90's/early 2000's, I had to have a T&Co heart tag bracelet. I wore it for a while and then it wasted away in my jewelry box for the next 13 years or so, tarnished and dejected. While I love Tiffany for it's classic and feminine aesthetic, I've never been a big wearer of hearts. I also don't really like wearing bracelets with charms, because I get annoyed by the feeling of them banging against things. The bracelet itself though is a really solid, pretty piece and I thought that I might start wearing it again if I had the heart removed.
The 6th floor repair department is beautiful and luxurious. The customer service representative was kind and efficient. The clasp of the bracelet was damaged from so many years of tarnishing in a box so I had it replaced for $30. The next day I picked it up and it had been cleaned and buffed to look just like new! I can't see scratches on it or anything (and it looked pretty rough when I dropped it off). I love the way it looks without the heart- mature, simple, and classic. It has such a great weight to it and looks fantastic stacked with so many things!
I also brought in my bead bracelet to be shortened. I had bought it used (with the help of wonderful people on the Authenticate This subforum) and it was a much older form of the bracelet with the thinner, single chain which also happened to be a half inch or so too big. The beads were a little scratched up, but I've loved it anyway. I had the bracelet shortened and when I picked it up, I discovered to my delight that they had replaced the entire chain with the currently used, enforced double chain. Buffed and cleaned, it looks like an entirely new bracelet!
I couldn't be happier with the experience and my new/old jewelry! Also, just roaming that store and trying on all the jewelry is a great way to spend an afternoon!
