Has anyone had Tiffany make them an egagement ring, when they didn't have the carat size you were looking for, if so what was the process and did it cost you extra.

I ask because I have fallen in love with the Jean Schlumberger e-ring but they don't currently carry the carat size I want, but said I could have it made.

I don't think so - when we were looking it was more of a 'search all the stores in the world for one with the specifications you want' kind of thing. Like I had said I wanted a certain carat range/colour range/clarity, and she looked in the system to pull any rings worldwide that fit that description at that time - but I don't THINK they do custom orders (they probably would for like a $100K one or something but not normally!)

Custom orders usually are $100k+, but they can build a new setting and charge you for it. With my engagement ring, they had to build me a new three stone setting since the stones are wider than my finger and they want to ensure the integrity of the setting design (you in theory can do what we did... buy an estate 2 carat without the retail mark-up and then pay for a new setting... we bought a $28k ring for $11k this way).

Keep in mind that a setting for a 2 carat will be more expensive than one for a 1ct. Each setting is built for that specific diamond so a setting for a 2ct will have more melee diamonds and you will be charged for that difference. HTH!
