So, I have been looking at this necklace for a while because I have wanted a long, statement-ish necklace. I had a Tiffany giftcard for $1000 but not sure this is really worth $1900 total ($575 for chain and $1300 for key). Thoughts?

Alternatively, I could get the Tiffany diamond metro heart and not pay anything over my giftcard??

No, I'm glad you said that Greentea!

I really LIKE it but I keep thinking that that $1k I have to throw in could go towards the Chanel GST I have been coveting or the DY diamond initial charms I want!! And yes, the Metro is def timeless!

Perhaps I can just achieve this look with some trendy, costume jewelry instead.

I love the look of the key on the long chain, but it is an awful lot of $$. For that amount, you should get something you really love and don't have any doubts about.

Do you wear silver? Tiffany has the same key and long ball chain in sterling, which is really pretty too.

Honestly I don't think I'd be willing to fork out the extra $$ for the key and chain. I'd always go with diamonds if possible! That is a really cute look, maybe you could do the DY initial pendants on a long chain? Or like smallfry mentioned, do it in silver instead? Or non designer for gold so you don't pay such a high premium? I always second guess every large purchase I make hehe....if you're unsure now you might always be leery of your choice.

I think so. You might not always love the key motif. Chanel GST is GORGEOUS!!!

Thank you! I decided to return the key! It's just too much! I do like SS, but just thought it was a bit more luxurious in the YG and I have a lot of WG so wanted to go with something different.

I bought the mini metro diamond heart and will see how I feel about it. Most of my diamond necklaces are more substantial but I think this is so cute!

Is there more than one size for this key? I thought I saw a smaller one at a lower price? I do think this key on a long chain is very nice - it is one of my fav key designs, but $1300 does seem like a lot for it. And given that you'd have to fork out almost another 1k for it, I would save the additional 1k for something you really love/want.

I do think the metro heart is more classic though : )

Thank you! They do have smaller keys but I liked the larger one as its more of a statement!
