12 of the Least Expensive Tiffany Engagement Rings - PureWow

Hi ladies! So I purchased this ring in year 2019 and hardly wore it and if I do, I'd be quite careful as the ring is relatively new. 9 months into owning it, I noticed one side of the ring (the thin edge right next to the solitaire) started darkening, so it kinda looks like a copper tone instead of the rose gold. Initially I ignored it but after another 2-3 months I notice the darkening became worse and brought it back to store. In my mind I thought perhaps the coating wasn't done well (I did see a base silver colour when I first bought my ring, at the same location and I didn't fuss over that), but after the staff checked on my ring she told me that there were cracks found on both sides of the thin edges. That came as a shock as I didn't even wear the ring for more than 30 days in the whole year.

So anyway, was wondering for those of you who own this design.. has anything similar happened to you before? Im thinking if its a common wear and tear problem with the design. TIA!

Have this without the diamond solitaire. Purchased in 2018. Never had any issues.
I do wear a lot of rings on my fingers though, so it has many small scratches on it. But the color has been uniform throughout.

I don't recall that solid rose/pink gold jewelry have any kind of coating  ?
I do know that many white gold pieces are rhodium plated.

I am no goldsmith, lol, but if there are cracks, then they may have been very tiny hairline cracks that formed when the ring was made. And of course, it would not originate from you. The cracks may get bigger over time as one wears the ring (getting moved and bumped around) However, hairline fractures most likely originate during the gold-work process or the cooling processes, especially if it was cooled too fast or in water that was too cold.

Sorry that it happened, that's a bummer . Hope they can repair it or give you a replacement.

they have repaired it once for me but now im even more careful than I was before.

but.. if it really is a manufacturing defect (and they did not disclose as such) then that means I might have to keep doing repairs down the road
