I am eyeing the Tiffany HardWear link earrings (smaller model) in gold. I really like the design but I am somewhat put off by all "copies". Do you consider the HardWear-collection to be "classical" like for example the Cartier Love-collection or VCA Vintage Alhambra or do you consider them to be more "trendy"?

The Love and Alhambra collections have been around much longer to become classics. The HardWear collection still feels fairly new to me, so I feel that it is hard to say right now how much sticking power it will have in the long run. Interestingly, I was surprised to look up that it has been around since 2017--somehow it feels newer than that.

My suggestion is to buy what you like and what you will wear. If you are a fan and will get a lot of wear from the earrings, then do it!

In my opinion (which is not based in knowing any fashion trends) the hardware links are distinct but won't look obviously dated. They're very popular now, but I don't see them looking dated the way the necklaces with the ball and lock do. Once again this is just my opinion and I'm sure people own those and rock them still. I think a good example was the double ball bracelet that used to be in this collection. I think that bracelet could easily be worn in 2024 and it's not obviously discontinued.

Thanks for your reply! I will try them on next time I have the opportunity (Tiffany is not sold where I live) and then make my decision

Thanks for your reply! I guess time will tell if this will be a "classic" or not

I have this and I love it. There will always be copies and I don’t think there is a more copied jewelry than cartier and vca alhambra. If you love it, don’t let society or others opinion stop you. You will love it.

I feel that hardwear is quite classic since it’s a revival collection from archived pieces.

The JUC line is also a revival collection. Cartier relaunched the design in 2012. I don’t know if people aren’t aware or don’t know the brand history, or if they only got introduced to Cartier several years later. Anyway, JUC doesn’t have continuity of production/availability, but is somehow considered a classical line from Cartier.

In the same vein that many view JUC as “classic,” the same principle should naturally extend to hardwear. Hardwear also has the same industrial feel as other jewelry from that time. Anyway, I think the design is simple, yet bold, distinctive, and substantial. Which make it something that is more likely to have an enduring relevance.

In general, under LVMH, Tiffany also seems to be pushing for maintaining and highlighting its classical collections, instead of retiring them after a decade. So, I feel that this line is much more likely to be kept in production.

Hi, hope it’s ok to join the thread to ask a Tiffany hardwear ball question?
Apologies if I should have started a new thread.
Would anyone know if the tags on the hardwear ball bracelet have changed over the years?
I got mine back in probably early 2000’s (was with my mum when she bought it in dept store). Was doing a well over due cleaning of my jewellery and decided to google it (**would never sell it) but on a well known re selling site the tag looks different.
First two photos are front and back of my tag ( Tiffany logo one side and on the back says 925 -and in tiny font underneath T&C logo and hallmarks- apologies about quality of photo couldn’t get phone to zoom in any more)
Third photo is from Tiffany website
And last from resellers bracelet, front and back. Found others for sale that look slightly different too.
I wonder have they changed the tags over the years?
Thank you in advance
