Hi, Everyone!!

I am looking for a pair of everyday earrings and wanted to delve into Tiffany & Co. Platinum for the first time. I'm trying to decide between the Diamonds by the Yard earrings in Platinum and the Solitaire Diamond earrings in Platinum. Suggestions?

The DBTY earrings are only 0.10ct (0.05ct each) but they're bezel-set. These are $1100.
The Diamond Solitaire earrings are .22ct (0.11ct each) and 4 prong set. These are $1250.

Which do you feel would be the better choice? There is only a $150 difference between the two (before sales tax). I can't decide which would be the better purchase... the bezel-set smaller diamonds, or the prong-set diamonds at double the carat weight?

I don't have a preference between the styles. They're just very different.

Does anyone own both who might be able to give their perspective? Or which would you choose and why?

I'm not a fan of anything bezel set, but I'm pretty classic and would go with the plain solitaires. If you already have something similar and want a more modern setting, go with the bezel set.

It depends on what you prefer on your ear. I once tried four prong set studs and I didn’t like the way they stood off my earlobe at all. It would be best if you could take a look at both in person.

That's a good point... I really don't like anything that stands out far from the ear. Does the basket on these solitaires add a lot of height to the earring?

These two pairs are so small I hardly think the basket will make a difference. However I must say the sparkle will be different. The bezel set has more metal around it, therefore light will not get thru the diamond like the solitaire.thismeans the solitaire will likely be more sparkly! Ohh... n I’ve seen them both n the bezel ones are just too dull for me.

I have both earrings, the solitaire in 0.34 and the diamonds by the yard in 0.16 and 0.28. It is true that the solitaire sparkles a little more than the dbty. Even in 0.34, the solitaire are so small that they do not really stick out on the earlobe. I like to wear both, although I prefer the solitaire a little more.

The 0.10 would be too small for me personally, I would definitely buy the 0.16 if the budget allows it.

I have both non Tiffany bezel and solitaire studs. The solitaire studs are more versatile when it comes to matching necklaces in different settings and metals. The prongs on the solitaires are so tiny that you could pair them with YG, RG, silver and platinum necklaces.

I have the 0.10 ctw DBTY earrings in YG. They are nice but very small. Because my earlobes are kind of thin, they don't sit in my 1st piercing that well. They are very nice for a second piercing. I did try on the 0.28 ctw DBTY in platinum and they were fabulous. Very big looking for the small total diamond weight and the bezel setting was so nice and comfortable. If you could save up some more money for those, I think you'd be very happy. Otherwise, for your budget, you could get much bigger diamond studs in four prong settings from Blue Nile or James Allen. Good luck choosing!

I vote for DBTY.
I am a huge Tiffany fan, and love all their iconic pieces. One piece I have not purchased is their studs. I have tried them on several times and they don’t speak Tiffany to me. I also have their solitaire engagement ring and that speaks Tiffany to me ( but of course only I know it’s a Tiffany, I don’t tell anyone, and it’s all for me).

DBTY is pure iconic Tiffany. No one does a bezel like they do. The DBTY was originally designed to be tiny diamonds floating, hence the thin bezel and chain. Over time, it’s has been supersized.

I vote the DBTY... it will be w nice twinkle on your ear. Plus, you can add to that collection and get a pendant, long necklace, bracelet, etc. I’m into sets and think that is a nice sophisticated look.

Just my two cents. Good luck!
