hi! So I’ve always loved the Tiffany setting and I wanted one when I got engaged but we were 19 and it was so out of my husbands intern salary budget. Now we’re going to buy a Tiffany setting ring and I have my eye on a quarter carat ring on fashionphile because I do have an engagement ring and I don’t think more than $700 is reasonable for a second ring. Does any one have Tiffany settings in the .24 ct range that can post pics? Also do you think it will be super tiny?

What is the size of the diamond on your e ring? In terms of the size of the Tiffany ring, it’s a personal preference. I personally would go bigger but that’s just me. If you decide to go larger than 0.24c, why not save up and get a larger stone on your 5th or 10th anniversary?

I have a .21 stone in a Tiffany-style setting. Size 5. When I had it reset I bought a cathedral-style Tiffany setting to beef it up a little. How large the stone looks will depend upon how it's cut. You might go to jewelry stores and ask to look at .5 TCW studs and see how large the stones are.

I would advise against buying a setting second-hand. In the Tiffany setting the stone sits high above the ring and the top of the prongs wear down quickly. After I'd worn my ring 20 years the setting was shot and the stone was in danger of falling out. It was beyond repair. When you buy second-hand there's no way of telling how much life the prongs have left unless a jewelry looks at them carefully.

I’m just like you, I have an engagement ring and didn’t actually like the Tiffany setting when we got engaged, I really wanted four claws. However over time it really grew on me and I didn’t want to replace my engagement ring so on our second wedding anniversary my husband bought me this 0.27 carat second hand Tiffany ring. I love it. It is small but my actual engagement ring is just under a carat. I find I tend to wear my Tiffany the most as it’s smaller and more practical and I feel I can wear it all the time. I don’t regret buying it at all. It gives me a Tiffany ring without the enormous price tag
