Hi,

I am currently btwn choosing diamond for my Harmony setting (not getting engaged, just want a pretty ring).

The price difference btwn a .35 ct I VS1 and .38 H VS2 is about 600 dollars. Idk if it’s worth to get the color H or not. Does anyone have pictures of I vs H diamonds from Tiffany?

Also, how does the diamond trade in work? Has anyone upgraded their rings with Tiffany?

Thank you!

Have you seen these diamonds in person? Color is personal to everyone. Also if you're budget conscious, would you be open to second hand? I got a 0.47ct F VVS2 for $1600 this year. There was a 0.6 I VVS2 that sold for $1700, and probably other better deals I'm not aware of.

If you're willing to take the time to sift through a bunch of fakes, there's so much nice preloved stuff out there!

Since a photo's worth a thousand words, here's my second hand score:

Upgrade policy is officially 2x original price within 5 years, sometimes they may be lenient and allow an upgrade after 5 years but it's their call.

Yours is very sparkly!!!!! Did you purchased yours preloved?

I have top cut grade ACA diamonds in both H and I colors. (For comparison purpose, it is appropriate to use ACA diamonds, as they are as good as Tiffany diamonds, if not better.). The color difference between H and I is not readily noticeable, especially in small sizes less than 0.5 ct.. I would not bother to upgrade color unless the new diamond is F or above. The whiteness of colorless range diamonds is readily noticeable to me.

I have decided on a .48 ct I SI1 stone. But on the site it says that SI1 is not Tiffany quality.... I am going to purchase the ring via online/email..... Is Tiffanys’s SI1 better than the others I have seen since they “reject flaws to the unaided eye”.... Thoughts?

Does the seller have a good return policy? Are you buying through PayPal and eBay, with solid buyer protection? Not only is every diamond different, but everyone's tolerance level is also different! You'll have to see in person to know if it bothers you or not, both colour and clarity. Unless it's really a great price and perfect size, I'd probably wait for one in a colour and clarity I'm sure I'd like. Also, cut. You can use the hca tool to input cut angles from the Tiffany cert, to get a rough idea of light performance.

Hi!

I am actually buying from Tiffany directly.... I asked for some pics from the SA but the band looked a bit scuffed and scratched....

Can't you get them to ship it in to your nearest store for comparison? If you're paying full retail you might as well get full service. Examine a few in person and use your eyes to pick your favorite, in various lighting conditions (by cupping your hand over, examining under natural light/biggest window you can find, in some shadowy corner away from the bright lights).

I live in NJ, so if I have the ring ship to NJ the sales tax is cheaper than getting it in the closet store which is PA.

Here's a Tiffany I SI1 under 10x magnification. I can see the color, very slight, doesn't bother me. I can't spot any inclusions though.
Hope you'll come back and post your new ring, and let us know what you think in person!

I can confirm that if you buy a second-hand ring from Tiffany, you can get a lot more for your money. Though if you buy new but it has scratches on it, you can send it to NYC and have it polished to look new. My husband bought my e-ring second hand (and saved serious $$$$ as it's over 2 cttw) and had it polished by Tiffany before he proposed.

My stones are H color and I can see some tint but I get a lot of compliments on the quality of my ring. I obviously don't walk around shouting "My ring is from Tiffany!" so I think the quality speaks for itself.
