I finally got the DBTY today but I was trying to decide between 2 stones...

1.) 0.26 ct, G, SI1, $1500
2.) 0.25 ct, H, VVS1 or 2 I dont remember, $1600

I went with option 1 because I've always valued color over clarity... do you ladies think I made the right choice?? I figured it's eye clean and it's so small, it wouldn't make a difference. But I'm not sure! What do you guys think? Which stone would you have picked?

I would have picked option 2. Sorry! That's probably not what you want to hear. But G and H are pretty much the same color and there is a huge clarity difference between vvs1/2 and SI.

I agree that in that size the difference won't be very stark, especially if it is not placed beside another diamond. I have a 0.23 diamond which is SI1 (I can't remember what colour) and I can't see much difference between that and my other diamonds with better clarity. Nowadays, i don't even remember that it is actually an SI1 - it's just as sparkly.

in that size I wouldn't lose sleep over it! I'd have gone for #1 too!

This. In a stone that size, I doubt you would have been able to notice much difference from the clarity of the one you bought vs the one you didn't buy. I think you made the right choice for yourself, since you said you value color more than clarity. When can we see pics? :graucho:

I doubt you would have been able to see much difference in stones that size anyway, but also I have learnt through experience (and buying some dud diamonds along the way) that cut is actually more important than any of the other c's. I have half carat VS1/D diamond studs which do sparkle beautifully but my .75 ct SI/G diamond bracelet sparkles even more and the clarity and colour are inferior to the studs, so I can only imagine that the cut is superior and ideal cut as opposed to excellent cut which I know the studs are. Of course with a company like Tiffany's you are not going to have any issues with cut. I only have one diamond piece from Tiffany's- my DBTY - and I don't know what the stats are but it sparkles like mad and the diamond is far smaller than yours (.08).

here you go! i think i will just stick with it. It's too small for me to care too much. Thanks for all your help! =)

Since I'm posting and I never do, I may as well show you guys my Ering too. I remember I asked surfergirljen about the Soleste sometime last year. And I finally got it in May!

Here is my e ring... 1.14ct, E, VS1

Love your ering!!! Looks way bigger than specs too-good for you-lol! I think you're right. The diamond pendant is by itself & not huge (but doesn't look that small really). It looks just lovely. Congrats!

great finger coverage. center stone is only 1.14ct, WOW, it looks way bigger than that. I think that's the pros of the soleste setting. Love its delicate pave.
