Hi all!!!!

I've been thinking of getting a dbty necklace or bracelet from Tiffany but I was wondering if there is a difference in the quality of diamonds they use if its gold, plat, or Sterling silver setting?

I read a lot of previous threads on size and everything else like how the diamonds sparkles and such but couldn't find an answer to my question.

Hope someone can chime in!

I'm thinking I want Sterling silver (not quite a fan of platinum....) or white gold( it does come in wg. Right?!)

TIA! !!

well they look like they are bezel set, so if you're worried about it falling out i don't think thats an issue. again ive never seen one in person.

even though sterling is soft the danty tiffany chains are super strong! ive caught many a necklace on things, thinking i surely broke it, and that was not the case at all to my surprise.

i'd trust that it's a secure piece of jewelry.

EDIT I READ THAT COMPLETELY WRONG. i dont know anything about the diamonds! lol.
it's tiffany though so i'm sure it's great quailty.

LOL its okay, its great to hear about how sturdy the chain itself is.

I own the platinum, yg, and ahem... soon to have the rg too:shame: I didn't find the sterling version sparkled as much. i never asked for specs regarding clarity. i just used my eyes and found i preferred the look of the diamonds in platinum and gold

CANDICE, thank you for the response!

Hopefully more people will chime in. The Tiffany store isnt exactly close to me so I want to be prepared before I drive all the way there. And at 8 1/2 months preggo, it's not exactly easy for me to just hop in the car and go lol.

no problem :D this is just my personal experience with the silver dbty. I know nurseann has the sterling version and it looks great!
here's my dbty's I wear 24/7 plus my RG dbty I bought off the tiffany website because my local store didnt have it in.....and I lack patience LOL
dbty rose gold.jpg

the platinum and RG are tiffany
the YG is roberto coin, the bezel is not as nice as tiffanys :D

I have heard as a rule of thumb that higher quality diamonds are reserved for pieces with gold/plat, and diamonds set in SS tend to be of lower quality. For example, people tend to complain about the diamond quality in David Yurman SS jewelry. That being said, I have quite a bit of SS/diamond jewelry, and it is definitely nice and sparkly -- you would probably only be able to really tell if you held the items up side by side. Also, Tiffany prides itself on their diamond quality, so I'm sure if you got a SS it would still be very pretty.

I would base your choice off the color of metal you want. I believe DBTY only comes in yellow and rose gold (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Thank you! I finally got to look at the collection online on my computer ( was just using my phone before) and I only see yg, rg, ss, and plat...

I agree with Candice. The SS is not as sparkly as the gold or plat (not that I own any but I am always drooling over them in the store) versions. It is still pretty sparkly and also eye clean and a great color match (didn't come with specs...neither did my gold one) for the silver setting. I don't think I would have really noticed the slightly less sparkle if I didn't take a macro pic of it next to my gold one. I love it and never take it off either. Had no problems with durability despite the 30 something times a day I wash my hands at work. I posted pics here http://forum.purseblog.com/the-jewelry-box/my-rose-gold-t-and-co-diamond-yard-710891.html HTH

Candice I hope to one day have a wrist covered in dbty like yours. Your collection is beautiful. Sooo jealous. The plat 5 stone dbty is next on my list but not for a looooooong time.

thanks NurseAnn:hugs:
I would love the 5 diamond rose gold or the YG! I cannot afford it right now either:D eventually....
I bought the 5 diamond roberto coin one was 700ish so I bought that one to "complete the look";)

I want to get the new RG one. But I am afraid it will be too small. I know you wear the 20 Love. Does the Tiffany's fit you?
Can they add a little for me if I want it?

yup they fit perfect! not too loose where the chain would get caught on things, but I can put two fingers into the bracelet chain comfortably if that makes sense. I bought my love loose too I was sized at an 18 but went up to be able to push the love bracelet up my arm a bit:smile1:

also If you have the sizing done right when you buy it the SA will usually get you free sizing up or down, this has been my case but I don't know if this is standard?

Thanks. I should go to the store then. I was drooling online at the RG one . I think it would look good with VCA and love. LOL. Oh I have another T question. I will start a new thread and not threadjack this one.:p
