Hello Everyone!
My beloved canine companion of over 15 years passed away early May and in his honor I was thinking of getting a Tiffany & Co pearl bracelet with a dog bone charm. I would get his name engraved on the dog bone charm as well.
I've been thinking about it for a while and finally went back to the store today and met with the SA that helped me and was just about to purchase it when we were talking about how to care for pearls.
I understand that pearls when compared to other jewelry pieces are more delicate. And I dont think I'll be wearing my bracelet every single day- but I do want that option. Again I understand that pearls "aren't recommended for everyday wear".
Anyways- just as my SA was typing in all the information as we're talking about how to care for pearls she asks one of her coworkers a question regarding the pricing for re-stringing pearls. Then the topic of how to care for them comes up and he responds,
“You do not want to do anything in it”
He then goes on to add,
Pearls are very very very delicate. You want to be very careful with them.
They'll never be the same as when you first bought them. They will change color and lose luster over time.
Ooooookkkaaayyyy...not something I wanted to hear just as I'm about to make a $500+ purchase. And since its personalized I wont be able to return it
So I told my SA that I'll get back to her and do my own research about pearls.
I've heard both sides- some say pearls are not for every day wear, that you only want them for special occasions.
I've also heard that if you just make sure not to get them wet, not have them touch cosmetics, perfume etc. That you'll be okay. That they aren't as delicate as people say.
I've also heard, that- wear what you want, just take care of them. You'll be fine kinda thing.
So TPF community...
What are your thoughts about T&CO pearls?
1) Do they age well? What are your experiences with Tiffany and CO pearls? The male SA that either a) saved my ass or 2) ruined the moment- was saying that they dont age well that with sunlight and what not they will lose their luster and you cant get that back...is that true?
2) I am wanting an everyday piece. I have several Chanel handbags but they stay up in my closet and if I'm lucky I use my Chanel collection about a handful times in a year. So not often...in other words...I dont want something that I'm going to be paranoid that I'm going to ruin. I wont wear it. So...yay or nay for the pearl bracelet with the dog bone charm as an every day piece?
Also when I went into the store, another bracelet caught my eye. The link isn't the actual one, I couldn't find it online. Its amazonite, but much smaller, and with a small tiny Please Return to T&CO heart. Retailed at I think $250. Its cute, it has the Tiffany Blue- I like it. And its not about $600 as my pearl bracelet would be with all the personalization. The SA I was working with was saying this is fine for every day wear. But the male SA said hell no to this one too
Again I am looking for everyday wear.
What are your thoughts on T&CO amazoninte?
Thanks in advance!!!!
