I have recently fallen in love with the Bolide and want one in a 27. FYI this was on my never want one list so part of the 'never say never with H' thread.
I came to want one after buying a LV alma bb which has become my workhorse grab and go bag.

So now we get to the decision regarding color and skin. I generally go for very neutral bags but since this is so small, I think I'll venture into a color. So maybe a blue or purple. I'd like something I can wear year round. I'm in NY so would need to work in winter and summer. Any advice on color is appreciated.

Also I plan on getting a crossbody strap for it so it will rub against my side quite a bit. I don't want to have to be delicate at all with this bag. So I'd love your thoughts on the skin. My thoughts below:
Swift: easier to come by; love the hand feel and would have no qualms about having it in a Kelly or birkin...concerned it may be too delicate for a bolide that will be continually rubbing against my jeans etc
Epsom: easier to come by; takes color nicely; has never been a favorite of mine
Clemence: love clemence but I think much harder to come by
Chevre: love but I also think harder to come by and not sure how it would wear on a crossbody bag

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I have a Bolide in clemence and it is so yummy in that leather. It just collapses into a giant puddle when I put it down (it’s a 37 cm, so huge). I love that leather for the Bolide because it makes it look a bit more casual. I have several bags in epsom (also not my fave), but wouldn’t choose that leather for a bolide because I don’t think it would wear well, and it would make the bag so rigid. Chèvre would be amazing! I bring my clemence bags to NYC every time I visit because I want to bring something I don’t have to worry about. Good luck finding the right one for you. It’s a great bag!

Thanks so much for much for your thoughts. There is so much epsom and swift out there in this size but I think I may need to be patient and wait for clemence or chevre.

I don't think I have ever seen the small 27cm in clemence. For this size, I do like it structured, so epsom would be my pick for a 27. Since you might want to venture out and try a colorful bag, have you considered blue electric epsom? My one and only 27 is exactly this combination and I really enjoy it. It is dark enough not to show color transfer and can be used year round. For a larger bolide, I love the smooshy look and feel of clemence leather. The mini bolide is adorable in chèvre, but I don't know if that size would be too small for the items you hope to carry. Good luck deciding!

Thanks for your comments. I have never seen it in clemence either. Perhaps this size doesn't come in clemence.
I would totally jump on blue electric in this size. I bet it is beautiful! Do you have an in action shot?

I actually went in with the thought to get the mini. When the SA brought it out I burst out laughing...I thought it would be similar to the alma bb but it is soooo tiny. Adorable but just too small to be practical for me.

Edited to say that I don't think this does come in clemence. I did a search on the forum and I don't see a one. Unless I missed it. I may need to do epsom!

I have a couple of bolide 27s, both in swift and if I were to be honest, I wish they were in epsom. The first one that I had gradually creased over time but my second one was creased out of the box. I just loved the color that I still took it. The creases/loss of shape does not necessarily bother me, but I now wish they were epsom because of the structure. I know most people don't prefer epsom but I am ok with epsom on small bags.
I love swift, I have a toolbox and a plume both in swift and no creases at all on both of those so must be combination of the bolide design and swift that is making it lose its shape.
Chevre though would be really beautiful and would probably keep its shape but they are hard to find! I was even asking my SA for a mini bolide in chevre and I'm still waiting on it.

I used to have a 27 in Box, beautiful.
My advice is, if you already feel like you are not a fan of Epsom, you are going to like it even less when you own it. At least that was my experience giving this leather a chance.
Best choice for your concerns would be chevre in my view, but it seems like this is being used for the mini Bolide’s now, rather than for 27...
