What do you all think about grained lambskin? Would it wear and tear like lambskin or caviar? This bag came out in 24B and again in 25S. I know some people don’t like the pebbled look of the turn lock, but the four holes on top make it really easy to shoulder carry and cross body.image1.webp

I think it's going to be one of those 'we'll have to see' things.

The grain is a stamp, and the stamping process will toughen-up the leather to make a it more durable. It won't be stamped (Caviar) calf though. Current Caviar has been developed for a market that wants everything to look pristine (as new) as possible. Even vintage caviar is not as hard or hardcore as recent. I am assuming this is because of retaining or increasing for resale value.

For me there's no point unless I wanted that bag. Honestly, I have a 55 year old o Chanel lambskin bag. Chanel was still under Chanel when that bag was made! IRL it looks and feels like the softest, most sumptuous leather IRL. OK, it's not pristine in photos, the soft leather quilting has 'relaxed' in that time. I'm not as old as the bag but my face has 'relaxed' a little since I was made :D. I have lamb and I have calf but stamped caviar does not appeal to me. I can see you really like it because of your name so it may appeal to you. I like my leather as natural as possible even if it doesn't photograph so well for resale.

Omg, something is happening and everyone is showing up under different names, or maybe it’s just me because I have a newborn and am sleep deprived… I’m guilty of wanting my bags to not show any sign of wear. So this should be more durable than lambskin it sounds like, although the leather has been altered. I wish Chanel would make more bags with single flap and four holes on top. The turn lock doesn’t bother me, although the gold used for the chain is a somewhat strange shade of gold.

Yes, it typically is.
Although I prefer lamb, I don’t care for it grained, resembling conventional caviar as I don’t prefer caviar leather.
I like lamb smooth and luxe!

I don't find lamb to be delicate. If you like this you should get it, I like the 4 grommets on my CF and mini Reissue, I get it!

Not seen this bag in person so can't speak to the look and feel of the leather, but I have the so black boy from a few seasons ago that was in grained lambskin, although it gets mistaken for caviar all the time. It has held up beautifully - feels less rigid than regular caviar and more structured than regular lambskin.

Thank you for sharing! Sounds like a great addition!

Did you get this bag? I got this on my recent trip to Kyoto, the SA told me this is Caviar leather, I was in rush but it is beautiful in person and with 4 grommets so versatile. I didn't aware until I look at the digital care product that this is grained lambskin and I am so worry to wear it, please share your experience if you have and wear it. Thanks

I returned it due to a twisted chain. I believe it is a problem with this bag. Have you inspected the chain?

Thanks for your response, it was twisted when I was at store but the SA told me it's normal. She said the Chanel Japan policy can't be returned so I keep it coz it was the last at store. I haven't wear it so I am not aware if it become the issue.

I got it recently because I wanted a square classic and this was the only “square” look mini to fit my large iPhone properly. It’s grained lambskin for sure. It doesn’t feel as delicate as regular lambskin. I have another grain lambskin woc and the only issue was colour transfer since it’s light, no wear problems. This is black so it’s ok. The chain does get twisted but I can easily undo it so it doesn’t bother me. I love how much it fits, the square look, and the 4 grommets since I can wear it shoulder and crossbody. I love it!
