Thoughts on Boîte Chapeau Souple MM

I recently saw this bag in a random YouTube video I was watching, and oh my goodness. I fell hard for it upon first look. The YTer also made some really great points about the bag and it's overall style that makes it stand out, and like a classic/vintage-y feeling to it. I know its a medium-is size black hole, but I honestly don't mind it and have other bags that are lacking that organization and I seem to prefer it. Which is one of the reasons I ended up selling my PM a few years ago - I hated being told how my bag should be divided

I am planning on going into my nearby store and trying on the BCM and they have both mono and empreinte - but I am wondering from people here who own it (or used to even), why do you love it/like it/despise it?

I actually love the look (in pictures) of the monogram version, however after I saw that it came in empreinte I was drooling. I am a pretty low key kind of person, and have actually sold my PM in mono partly because I kept seeing knock off LVs with the mono, and it cheapened the experience for me... and everyone knowing exactly what they were looking at. However, I am wondering if this bag may be different in a way? I actually could see me wearing this and feeling comfortable with the monogram because it's an uncommon bag, and has that vintage aspect. However empreinte is pretty attractive too, because of the more subtle factor - however my two LVs I own know are black - epi and a black empreinte.

Anyway - pros/cons of the mono vs empreinte? Overall thoughts? Thanks all!

i love my monogram! i don't wear it very often because i have a lot of other bags that i rotate with, but when i do wear it, i almost always get compliments. if you don't carry a lot of things, it's great. i don't think of it as a black hole because it's really not that big so it's easy to find stuff inside. i've had mine for three years now and it's still in great condition (but again, i don't wear it very often). i don't think the empreinte looks as classic and has the same vintage feel as the monogram, so i personally prefer the latter.

I love mines and I have it in mono. It is a unique bag, I have not seen it on another person while I am out and about. I carry it as my everyday bag and on days that it rains I carry another LV epi bag. The patina on the bag is pretreated, but I rarely carry in rain. It fits quite a bit for the shape and size of the bag.
Pros: Unique, soft body, leather straps are soft and fits my style
Cons: Because of soft straps are a little creased (bothered me at first but now it seems quite minor) since the joy of carrying it outways a few creases. Only other con is at times the bag tips forward. The items inside of my bag have never spilled out with tipping, but I put smaller items in pouch.
What I usually carry in a day for this bag: toiletry 15, pm agenda, card holder, IPhone7, pocket agenda, 4 key holder, mini reusable straw and work badge along with work keys.
Hope that helps It is a bag that doesn’t have tons of reviews, sometimes that makes it hard to choose. But I’m starting to not look at the reviews and finding I enjoy visiting the LV site to see if the bag is really for me. The reviewers are all getting the same bags and most do not fit my style, which is not trendy.

A very fun choice to get to make!
I have it in Empreinte Noir and love it. I enjoy how low key the black leather and embossing is for empreinte pieces and the versatility of black.

The one downside to the bag is how it unzips. The zipper is a decent length, but the width of the opening can result in watches or bracelets getting snagged when going in and out of the bag.

It also fits enough for a normal day. I can fit my wallet, phone, keys, face mask and still have room leftover. Though, I usually style with it when I’m going out and might not need much more than the essentials.

I bought the mono version in 2018, and I do love the vintage vibe and silhouette, how light it is, how it molds to the body and the pre-treated vachetta. I don't mind it being bigger as it's nice to have a medium bag in my collection. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks all! I pulled the trigger on a pre-loved one on Fashionphile… excited to get it and see how I like it! Ended up with mono after everyone’s comments on that vintage vibe. I have tons of black bags but if that Empreinte version is still calling my name I can return the mono and grab the Empreinte. Must say that the pre-treated vachetta makes it extra appealing in addition to the aesthetic.

Let us know how you like it. This bag came on my radar recently. I usually avoid monogram due to its abundance and so many fakes out there, but I am really loving the vintage luggage look of this piece.

I think I saw the bag you picked as I had some in my feed. Congrats on snagging it and I hope you enjoy it. I just got the Empreinte and it was hard to decide on which to get.
