Hi Everyone,

I was stalking the pre-loved sites for an Antigona and there I saw this bag called the Nightingale and it caught my eye. Yes I have been late to the Givenchy party to know about this bag but now I just cannot get it out of my head. I really want an Antigona type of bag cause I also like the structured style but also because I wanted a more "classy" " let's be more of a adult" type of bag but :) But this Nightingale look is so pretty! Also I never carry so much stuff out to carry such a large bag (I like the medium size look).
What do you guys think of the bag?

I got mine in 2014? On sale, and the leather is so thick and luscious right up my alley... it’s also probably heavy for some. I got the large so I can actually wear it as a cross body and I don’t wear it as much now since it’s light lilac (pink gray) and I want to preserve it for as long as possible.

no structure to it at all compared to the antigona.

will find pics shortly.9832DF55-5187-4EF5-8E1C-550AE73BB970.jpeg97B6089B-E94A-4A8B-A748-9EA5405D7BC2.jpeg

We have lots of threads on the gale, so take a look. I adore the gale, and have many of them. It's a totally different vibe than the ant. Luckily, their should be good deals on gales since they're discontinued, but watch out for fakes as it was highly counterfeited at its peak. If you love unstructured bags, you should keep an eye on the preloved market.

Oh wow your bag is beautiful! Lovely colour! It looks good on you. Why did you got the large size? Do you liked the look of it or you carry a lot of stuff with you? That is my dilemma. Everything I take out with me can fit in a mini bag but maybe when it is getting nice weather and go out an about for a whole day I need more stuff.

Yes it is totally different, I really like the slouchiness and it is maybe more me then the antigona I have been lusting over. I saw some nice ones and with nice prices on Vestiare. Do you have some tips how to dotch counterfeit? Or are there tips on the forum? I am just worried it is not a to big a bag of me.... but I guess I am the only one who can decide that for me :)

Depending on if the gales you're looking at are the 'old' or 'new' gales bc the older ones, esp in black, were the most counterfeited. The new version, not at all.

Do some research and if you have any specific size questions, I'll try to help. Dont think there are any tips on authentication, but VC should be good with this style, as it's no longer super popular, so most people wouldn't be listing it with VC unless it's real.

I used to be into big bags, and I still am just so I can throw in anything I need and it doubles as a shopping bag (this is prior to the whole .25 paper bag ordinances and the popularity of reusable bags. These days I’m into carrying as little as possible.

I was lucky enough to get mine at ssense for a deep discount (also back when they had better sales, when they were less known kind of like how the outnet had a $1 for everything on their first anniversary sale). I am glad i got it before it was discontinued...there are still some bags I missed out on (Gucci horsebit leather hobo, not sure of the exact name but I was a kid and my friends sister got it and it’s so gorgeous, by the time I was old enough to buy it’s already discontinued) but I don’t even think of second hand unless it’s in person because i always worry about fakes and swapping/scams.

I would go for the antigona at this point but that’s just me. I am very anti buying used or anything used unless it was a gift (I had a client gift me a vintage Hermès ring but I don’t know if it’s real or not and I don’t care as it was more of the sentimental thought then anything).

Maybe you can advise me on something. I ask the seller about a code/number in the bag and she said there is none. When I look at VC and also on this forum I see 2 different tags, 1 stitch at all sides (see attached photo) and the one with only 1 stitch on the side and a number on the other side (I saw this somewhere on the forum) Do nightingales have codes inside the bags?

Your pics seem to be of the old style of gale, so there are 2 "tags". One is really the logo, which is stitched on the zippered inner pocket, as seen in your pics. The other tag is usually found alongside the seam of the bag's inner cloth lining. It is usually a small leather tag embossed with some kind of code/number. Your pics do not have this tag captured. Instead, the other tag in your 2nd pic is just the leather zipper pull for that inner pocket.

Thank you! the seller found the number tag and I am now sure the bag is authentic :)
