This Is What Your Bag Says About You

Agreat bag not only ties an outfit together, but often says what kind of fashion person you are. Sure, if you are the credit card and phone only type, you've got us all beat in the efficiency department, but if you're proud of your "It" accessory, you wear it with aplomb. Thus, in honor of fashion month, a primer on the different ways street style stars carry their bag and what it says about you.

On the Shoulder = The Multitasker

Between a dozen daily shows and after-hours parties, you've got every essential under the sun on you—show invitations, gum, granola bars, floss, and a lint roller, at the very least. Despite your hodge podge approach to what's in your bag, you're still effortlessly on the go, which means you're hands-free at all times.

In the Crook of the Arm = The Lady

It may not be the most comfortable of positions, but carrying your bag in the crook of your arm requires a certain level of polish. You like to consider yourself a modern day Jackie O (her finest fashion moment was when she was exiting a car in this exact way) and you like structure in all forms (yes, that means Chanel).

In the Hand = The Showoff

What better way to let people know you've got a new bag than putting it on full display. You wouldn't even think of letting an arm or a hand get in the way of your showpiece, so you hold it in the palm. All eyes will be right on you.

Hmmm. Interesting idea.

Wonder what bag says about me, when worn crossbody, chasing energetic dog with frisbee through wet grass?
Or when dropped on floor of art museum, before I swear a bit too loudly & throw some jazz hands?
I shudder to think. ;)

In a generic sense I say yes. I like to carry my purse on my crook of the arm because of the posh look. Unlike what the article states I don't find it uncomfortable more like convenient when multitasking.

IIiiiiiim eeevery wooman, it's aaall in meeeee... :wlae:
I carry bags every way described, and I can only wonder what my bag says about me when it gets a sprinkling of the contents of a used coffee filter or I shake a large bottle of iron supplement drink, the cap comes off and EVERYTHING in the kitchen and a good part of the hall is covered in pinky grey juice. Walls, tabletops, oven, stove, floor, microwave oven, fridge door...and the bag. :weird:

Haha the responses are hilarious! I carry my bags all ways too, so i'mmmm every woman as well. These days I am loathe to buy a bag if there aren't at least two ways to carry it. The more convertible the better!

I can't believe they overlooked crossbody. I think it can look so urban and cool, and also schoolgirlish, in a good way :). Like this--http://twofortheshowblog.com/school/.

I'm not a crook-of-the-arm-fan--I think it looks awkward and uncomfortable. I like bags that can go shoulder to crossbody (Celine Blade and Marni Trunk) or handheld to shoulder or crossbody (Proenza Schouler PS1 and Nina Ricci mini Marche).
