Things in threes?

Hi everyone! I was hoping to get a few ideas or tips from you all. I will be finishing my PhD (my third university degree) this year, and to celebrate, I wanted to buy myself a nice 3-themed piece of jewellery. I have been collecting ideas for a little bit now, but keep running into new pieces I haven't seen before!

I've listed all of the items I'm considering below. Which do you think are the nicest, or not so great? I know that quite a few of you have one or more of these pieces. I would like to wear this on a fairly regular basis, but I'll be working in academia, and don't want anything really over the top.

Also, does anyone know of any other 'three' jewellery? I'd like to stay under the £1,500/$2,500 range, and the less expensive, the better! If you think I'm better off going to a local jeweller with a good idea, please let me know. I just want something really nice to mark the special occasion. Thanks so much ladies.

I loooove the Cartier wedding trinity and the last three row ring. I have the Tiffany somerset ring and although it is beautiful and has held up very well over the years even though I wear it every day, for a signifying of '3,' I prefer those two where the '3' is more pronounced in the design.

Hmm... Well the Cartier version doesn't have one either (at least I don't think it does)....

Honestly I hadn't considered that.

The less expensive Cartier ones don't, and the more expensive Cartier ones do, I think, and some are on cords. I would worry about the designer ones without bails just the same...it's not a name-brand thing! I didn't have the Cartier version on here either ;) It just seems like for most charms that slide, the scratches would be on the inside of the 'bead', so it wouldn't matter. But for these types of design, the scratches could be seen because the rings all ring and the 'inside' of the design is so large and in the open! I wonder if anyone on here has this type of necklace and could offer some insight into how it's held up?

Thank you, that's a really good point. I think I was drawn toward the Somerset because I don't a piece from that line in my Tiffany collection, and it seemed like it could be a two-for-one. But you're right, I should focus on the ones that are more '3'.

Just a question, though, since I'll probably get the Somerset 3-diamond at some point down the road :graucho: have you noticed it becoming larger/looser on your finger over time? Have you had to move it 'up' a finger at all?

I think I'd prefer a ring or necklace, yes. I am on a computer most of the day at work, so when I wear bracelets that I want to be a bit careful about, I end up taking them off and putting them next to my keyboard for a lot of the day. I wear rings 50% of the time and necklaces every single day. I also wear earrings all the time, but I think my family will be buying me some diamond studs or something like that, so I want to leave that option out for the time being.

It is very cute! I wish it came in platinum. I might take a print-out of that and the Aria to my local jeweller and what kind of diamonds I can get similarly set in platinum for the same price ;)

Not at all. I've had it for 2 years and have only not worn it a few of those days. I am always tugging it and out of habit pushing it towards my hand and it is still as tight as the first time I wore it. I don't know if the wider Somerset rings are actual rings attached together to look like mesh (which is what I think) but the one I have isn't actual tiny rings, just made to look like it. I believe the all the designs with diamonds are 'simulated' mesh for a lack of better words so there is no way they can change size.

First off, congratulations on your PhD!!! I celebrated each of my degrees with something special too - it's a v good way to celebrate IMO

Personally, out of all of these, I love the Cartier classic trinity or the Bloomingdales pendant. I'm leaning more towards Cartier though. It's such a signature piece and so classic - what better way to celebrate a truly great achievement??
