Hi everyone! I wanted to get opinions from other fashion and luxury lovers and thought it would be a good idea to start this discussion. I'm looking for a shoulder bag that's easy to use, on the go and can fit more than just a phone and lip gloss. Something to wear throughout the day or from early morning to early evening, and in the colour burgundy/maroon/crimson/bordeaux (whatever you wanna call it) with a leather strap! When I saw the Kelly Elan in Rouge H, I died and knew that was the perfect bag! Without being able to score it or having the budget to buy it from the grey market, I decided to find the next best alternative that isn't a dupe but still a 'designer luxury bag'. These are some of the options I'm contemplating and wanted your guys' opinion on the best 'ultimate' shoulder bag.
1. Bottega Veneta hop small: https://www.bottegaveneta.com/en-gb/hop-barolo-796262V3IV12250.html
2. Bottega Veneta andiamo small: https://www.bottegaveneta.com/en-gb/small-andiamo-barolo-766014VCPP12273.html (Not the best shoulder bag but love the versatility of it)
3. Alaia le teckle medium: https://www.maison-alaia.com/gb/shoulder-bag_cod45894814jl.html
4. Prada bonnie medium: https://www.prada.com/gb/en/p/prada-bonnie-small-leather-shoulder-bag/1BA426_2CYR_F0LV7_V_MOO
5. YSL Le 5 a 7: https://www.ysl.com/en-gb/pr/le-5-a-7-in-patent-leather-813233290.html
Would love all your opinions on more options, the ultimate one for you and which you'd get out of these 5 options <3

Imho, after reading your post the best 'ultimate' shoulder bag in burgundy is the Kelly Elan in Rouge H.
If that bag is the perfect one for you, then really nothing else will satisfy you.
Therefore, before moving on to my personal opinion on the other bags, just make sure that these are choices that you really love and are not a substitute for the Kelly Elan.
Otherwise, it would be an expensive regret to buy one designer to temporarily satisfy for another designer bag that you actually want.
Just food for thought.

Anyway, moving on.
When you say early morning to early evening, I'm assuming you're not going to use this as a day to night bag, as in, an actual evening bag.
Therefore, appearances and practicality only, my pick would be the Bottega hop.
I love how the leather shows the richness of the burgundy color.
I've always been a fan of the intrecciato weave.
And of course, plenty to fit with a comfortable shoulder strap.

2) I love the look of the Andiamo as well, but the bow in the middle moves around too much for my personal liking. Carrying it as a shoulder bag would be too long of a drop for me. Though an SA once told me that I could tie the excess strap into a knot and put it inside the bag, but I'm not a fan of doing that to shoulder straps. I would only carry this as a top handle bag.
3) Alaia is suede. I've realized that I'm not comfortable carrying suede around. Can't bring it out when it rains. (even though I live in California, I would want to bring this out in the fall and winter, but that's when it rains) Always worried about it getting dirty (it's very dusty in southern California)
4) Prada. Too busy of a bag for me. And I don't like thin leather straps/strips. They almost always curl up over time. Also, a little too vintage-y of a design for my tastes.
5) YSL. The lightest of the burgundy shades. I saw a Youtuber's video on it and what she didn't like about it, is that it never really is closed. It's narrow and doesn't stand well on its own so it falls over, and when it does, half of the contexts spill out. And in the car, if you rest in on a passenger seat, due to the patent leather, it will slide around. It also has the most limited space out of all the bags.

Good luck and happy shopping!

Here's a burgundy dupe for the Kelly Elan:

THANK YOU so muchh for your honest opinion and you are so right, I will always want the kelly elan! Im going to go with a different style of maroon/burgandy bag and leave the kelly elan for another time and in another color as I really 'need' a burgandy bag atm. The YSL one is out of the equation cause of your feedback, thank you again <3 Im still very confused and after seeing the prada bonnie in person, decided its not really my style per say and I'm leaning towards the alaia in full leather instead of suede, cause same as you said, not feasable with my OCD to see the dust and living in london, the rain is a huge factor! I love the hop and agree with you about the Andiamo. Also just realised, I want something more dainty so the hop might not be ideal :/ Its a beautiful shoulder bag tho and I also saw a chanel clutch with a chain, but waiting for their caviar leather version to come in stock before making a final decision. For now, I'll wait to see if the Chanel clutch is available. If not, I'll opt for the Alaia. If they don't have the full leather version, I'll take it as a sign to get the HOP! Love this platform, thank you for guiding me :)

Thank you so much <3
Here's a burgundy dupe for the Kelly Elan:

When I read the title of your post, I immediately thought of the Gucci Jackie. I'm not even a huge Gucci fan, but imho the Jackie in the burgundy leather is just perfection

Out of the ones you've posted, I think the YSL and the BV Hop are the most timeless designs (though it would be lovely if the YSL was in regular leather, not patent)...all the others are a bit too "current".

Oh yes, I have one!
The color varies depending on the light.

With the Alaia, it's quite trendy, but I hope it becomes a timeless design, it's such a cute bag! I just feel so feminine and young when carrying it ahaaha compared to the hop, andaimo and bonnie.
OMG I totally forgot about this piece! https://www.gucci.com/uk/en_gb/pr/w...ucci-jackie-1961-medium-bag-p-810232AAD5V6449
Going to check it out in person, thanks for the suggestion <3 Another huge contender ahaha
