I have searched the Forum and can't find threads concerning this...and I know I have seen some in the past. WHY did RM start using them (I know handles broke), but are they going to be a permanent part of the bag or was it a temporary fix until they could figure out something better?
I got my MAB this week and it doesnt have them. I have the same amount of stuff in the MAB as I did in my MAM, but I just dont want the handles to rip...and I swear the MAB weighs a couple of pounds more than the MAM....
I dont like the plates....

The plates have been notorious for breaking off. There is apparently a screw that attaches the handles to the bag, when that goes bust, you're left with a handle base that isn't even connected to the main part of the bag.

The plates were mostly only on the patent trim bags, though they did show up on a few regular leather bags. I doubt they will be used much in the future since they're now known to fall apart. I assume they were just used as an easier way to attach the handles through the stiff patent.

I don't recall there ever being any handles that broke. It was the plate hardware that came apart because screws came loose, but even with the "floppy" handle issue I don't recall ever hearing about handles that out and out broke or ripped.

The handles getting separated from the main bag is definitely not what Rebecca intended with the plate handles!! LOL!

It was just part of the new HW design, and the handles breaking away is definitely a defect.

OKAY! Good! I just wanted to make sure I wasnt putting too much weight on them! I carry the world in my purse....I have noticed people mentioning all sorts of problems with the patent leathers.....
Thanks for the help!
