Hello, I'm new to the Coach scene! I have read some stuff regarding the meaning behind all the stamps that are on the creed. So I know the 'O' or bullseye stamp is for full-priced boutique bags that are, I suppose, later stamped to be sold at an outlet. Correct me if I am wrong here please! And the 'X' is for factory bags. What if both stamps are on the creed? Does that mean it is fake? Or could it be stamped first for outlet and then for factory? Very confused!

I wish I could help, but I’m as confused as you are. Like you said, the bullseye denotes a full-priced boutique delete, and a bag with ‘F’ stamped in the creed denotes a made for factory outlet. To have both stamps in the same bag is contradictory. Maybe one of the stamps was put there by mistake?

I’m sorry, I’m not a mod. However, if you’d be willing to write me out the full creed, I’d be more than happy to see what I can find out about the bag.

Before Coach started using the F in front of the style number (in late 2006) when they stamped the serial number to indicate a bag made for the Factory Stores, apparently they would often stamp the bulls-eye on the creed to show the bags were going to the Factory stores. So some bags with the bullet mark made before late 2006 could have been destined for the Factory Stores right from the start.

There's an early list posted on March 18, 2012 by katev in the Guide to Coach Product Grades and Markings forum that covers the subject, although some meanings of the marks may have been updated as more information became available;

Abbreviations and Symbols on Items With a Creed Patch:

Coach has used many variations in their serial numbers and creeds over the years and you can find loads of information about them, and how to distinguish fakes from genuine bags, under the Authenticity Questions Thread at the below:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/answers-to-authenticity-questions-94198.html

But here are some markings that Coach adds to the serial number or stamps on the creed patch to indicate specific types of bags, I have also attached some pictures below. Feel free to add additional abbreviations and photos!

Bullet (target or bullseye symbol) = Full price boutique bag sold at the outlet for a discount (FP Delete)

F after the serial number's hyphen = Made for Factory bag, sold only at the outlets or online factory sale

X = An MFF grade bag sold at a discount store like Marshalls

M = A boutique grade bag made exclusively for Macys

N = A boutique grade bag made exclusively for Nordstroms

FS (or 2 bullet stamps) = final sale (extra discount was given but Coach won’t accept return or repair requests)

ES = employee sale, sold to a Coach employee at a discount (may also void returns/repairs?)

P = Pilot bag, a test product that may not have ever gone into production

Don’t worry too much about the numbers/letter that appear in front of the hyphen, they indicate the month and year of manufacture and the plant code/country. That’s helpful information when you are trying to identify or authenticate a specific bag; but in the beginning it is helpful just remember that F after the hyphen means MFF bag and a bullet on the creed patch means FP delete sold at a discount at the outlet."

There are photos included and probably more comments on the subject but I'm not going to repost all those, just go to the linked post. There's a lot of good information in that thread, you may want to read at bookmark at least the first few pages.

Hi gang! I have an "X" bag I bought at TJ Maxx several years ago that I carried on the daily for ages. I threw together some pix for folks who would like a visual reference.
Hello! Thank you for this! I have noticed bags with the 'X' on the country tag but it's interesting how there is also an 'X' stamp on the creed. You would think they would stop stamping on the creeds like they did for MFF bags which now have just the dot on the country tag. So have you noticed that 'X' bags all have Z in the style number?

I have heard that all Z-numbered bags have an "X" somewhere but I'm not sure if Coach ever used an "X" for other things. My Z/X bag is the only one I've seen in person. Going by the creed, my bag is from 2012 (I believe that is when I bought it too) so X-stamping may not be something Coach does anymore either. I honestly don't know if they still make MFF bags for other discount stores. All this info may just apply to shopping pre-loved/thrifting. This bag has held up beautifully. It was my everyday bag for years and I was really hard on it, but the leather shows just very minor wear that disappears with a little conditioner touch-up. I mostly carry vintage glove-tanned Coach and vintage Dooney AWL now but I still love this bag and will carry again if the mood strikes.
