The Nerve of Him! What do you think?

True, I don't think he should have commented on her bags unless asked to but I know sometimes these SA's get a little defensive as do I apparently haha! I have a friend that sells handbags for Nordstrom's and I hear lot of stories so its possible he was having a bad day. I have never had a problem with the SA's at my Nordstrom's but they are usually laid back college students under the age of thirty so they are pretty relaxed and far from snooty.

I've never had a problem with my SA's either!
I have a lot of friends that work retail and I have asked them how they deal with customers when they are in a bad mood, and they just tell me that they keep conversation short and to the point. They don't want to risk losing a potential sale or their job!
I'm really sorry to hear about the OP's experience. I would go to a different store and just try not to let the whole ordeal bother me too much :]

Oopps I was not done yet.

I also have Guccis. I still carry my Gucci purses from time to time...but I mainly use Celine and Chanel's for everyday, traveling and formal events. I have been trying to get my hands on Birkin but didn't' have any luck when I went to Paris, and I live 4 hours away from Hermes (you have to physically get the bag now at the store to order and pick up the bag)

I guess, I was rationalizing or explaining what he said to you. If you go to Hermes store, the SAs do not really want to sell you their product. They want you to appreciate the craftsmanship and quality. While we were in Paris at Hermes store, my husband could not believe how the customer service is so poor! He said, what the F? i am trying to spend more than $10k or almost 7k euros, and this all he gets. He associate luxury with good customer service! It's not like buying a BMW or Porsche, you get to be the king when you are in the dealer. So I was explaining it to him that this is not the case at all.

If you feel that you had the worst experience ever, please report him. But in my opinion, he answered your question.

Also, he was still giving you his attention, explaining how the wings can be folded, the quality of the leather etc.

If he was a bad SA, he would have walked away from you the moment you told him you are not interested.

I had a new SA the other day in my regular store which is located in a casino. As I usually purchase during the day, and this time I went during the night, some of the faces were unfamiliar. usually I get treated EXCEPTIONALLY at my store, even though they know I'm browsing they practically bring everything out for me to try and look at. This one day I made up my mind and decided to get the brea in beige poudre, whilst there I decide to try on a few things as well. My friend and I were just making comments about how if I had unlimited money I would get this this and this all today.

After having a fun dress up with like 2 bags, the SA was obviously bored and uninterested was just like yes I like the vernis brea the most out of the kusama never full and the bergamo. Then I was like ok ill take it (brea). The SA was clearly shocked that I could afford such a bag. Even though I was carrying my blue infini alma.

I brought out my money to pay for the bag, 2340 in CASH!!

The SA actually had the nerve to ask, did you win at the casino today? Implying Like I couldn't afford to purchase it.

I replied politely said yes! I actually won 100!!

I can't believe he would make assumptions like that! Detracted my whole purchasing experience. If I had knew my regular SA wouldn't be there during that time, I would have just came back another time. Another thing was there was only a few beige poudre breas left so I had to get it.

Some SA believes they are better than everyone else, but in reality they are working RETAIL!

This SA probably applied for a job at LV or Gucci and didn't get hired !

Also, could have worked for LV or Gucci ranted off at the mouth and was terminated !

How rude ! Sorry this happened to you !

What would be your motive for reporting this person? What would you like the end result of a report to be? I think that, to report a person is a very serious thing to do. It should never be done just as an act of revenge.

the most impressing is that with that stupid attitude he was actually trying to "SELL" and supousedly giving a "service"... maybe he forgot he is a seller and that the clients are not masoquists and they wont like to be insulted if you pretend to sell them anything...

When an OP asks for opinions about a scenario and me giving my opinion on the story is staying on topic. Thats what we do here. I do not agree with his digs back at her and being rude but he was probably thinking this women is wasting my time and the customer is always right when your buying something I just picture all the people looking in the LV story taking pictures but have no interest in buying anything. She said she looked at them earlier and did not like them and then went to look at them again. Thats just my experiences so oh well.
I think I am reacting more for the things I have seen and experienced and possibly taking it out on this OP so for that I appologize I wasn't there I am just picturing this person that was next to me at LV whom bashed LV the whole time but managed to try on and model every bag is sight while complaining about the bag.

I have to agree with you deathparade. Although he was wrong to bash the brands you like, I think it's not classy to walk into a store exam the bags and ask what's the hype when you already made up your mind that you didnt like Celine. The fact that you went there twice blows my mind. This is just my honest opinion.

that's a very poor attitude for someone trying to get you to buy... I mean, insulting customers to encourage a purchase?! Terrible sales strategy...

Just walk away, and forget him...

I was out shopping my my family tonight. While in Nordstrom, my son and husband stepped away (potty break). My daughter (4) and I waited. While waiting, I browsed the Celine bags.

*Side note: My husband and I had looked at the bags earlier. There are some really pretty fall color combinations out; however, I am just not a Celine girl. I guess. So, maybe this guy saw me earlier.

Anyhow, I was browsing again when a salesperson came over to offer assistance. I politely asked what the Celine hype was about. He proceeded to tell me that the bags were made of fine leather, colors are exclusive, and are not released again, ect. He said that the Celine shopper doesn't want a bag that everyone else carries, follows fashion, and understands trends. I wasn't impressed or convinced (by him or the bag). However, I proceeded to try the bag on while he told me about the way the sides can be folded in (I'm not a fan of the flared sides). I was thinking that maybe, just maybe, I might love it eventually.

To try on the bag, I had to put my bag down (Gucci Sukey Large). He tells me, "Gucci is not what's up!"

I looked at him, surprised, and simply commented that the bag is was carrying is one that I rotate in. I told him that I do prefer Louis Vuitton, but I also like Gucci.

This man, in a Celine crossbody (probably provided by the store), then tells me that he "would not be caught dead wearing my Gucci bag" and that Louis Vuitton is "common and dated." He said there is a boutique on every corner and everywhere you look, there's a woman carrying a speedy or tote (the NF, I'm guessing).

*Now, I do agree with this (about the speedy and NFs everywhere). However, I would never tell him because of his ridiculous attitude!

By that time, I was pi****! So, I said, "Well, considering the fact that you're a man, I would hope that you wouldn't be caught dead wearing my bag!" Just then, my husband was walking up. He continued his rant about how common LV is and insisted that anyone who is anyone wears Celine and Hermes (which are not at all on the same level, IMO, but whatever).

*I could not care any less about guys wearing bags. This is 2012 and everyone is free to do as they please! Kudos to those who find love!

I rolled my eyes while walking away and he proceeded to wave while sarcastically telling me to have a nice day.

Am I overreacting or was he totally out of line? I considered reporting him to customer service. I feel like it was very rude of him to insult me because I was't interested in buying Celine. It's fine to have an opinion. However, "Mr. Fashion" clearly saw that big Gucci bag on my shoulder (forgive me Mr. LV) and proceeded to bash not only Gucci, but my first love, LV!

Thoughts?
I would totally report him. He was so out of line when he insulted your bag. He should be focused on selling Celine bags...one part of trying to sell is not to put another brand down. I would email the store ASAP & if you remember his name....that's even better. Keep us updated on what happens.

He is a tool. Report him.

That's absolutely awful!! Although I've never experienced an incident like that, it really infuriates me to hear about such things happening to other people! Sales Assistants are there to ASSIST, in the hope of getting a SALE...
