August 16, 2007 will mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death.

Had he lived, he would be 72 years old.

My first Elvis song was (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear, and it was on Disney's DTV Valentine Special. The show took love songs and paired them with Disney cartoons.

Growing up, I used to listen to lots of oldies, and I would hear Jailhouse Rock a lot.

I fell in love with Burnin' Love from watching Lilo & Stitch. (Wynona Judd did a cover of it during the end credits.)

I'm watching Larry King interview Priscilla Presley in Graceland. I think it's wonderful that, despite their difficult marriage (I've read her book Elvis and Me) she still loves him.

My mom told me she had a ticket to see Elvis's concert but my grandpa wouldn't let her go. I was like, "You should've gone anyway!"

My mom's friend is a HUGE Elvis fan. She has a suitcase full of Elvis memorabilia and programs from his concerts.

My favorite pictures of him are the ones when he was younger, because my GOD, he was beautiful!

He lived an unhealthy life and he died too young. He is greatly missed.

My favorite Elvis songs (in no particular order):

1. Burnin' Love
2. Suspicious Minds
3. Fools Rush In
4. In the Ghetto
5. Heartbreak Hotel
6. Viva Las Vegas
7. Don't Be Cruel
8. A Little Less Conversation

Yeah, wow its been 30 years since he died. My dad was a huge Elvis fan. I think Lisa Marie looks exactly like him. Too bad she opens her mouth. I have been to Graceland and I was actually disappointed by how small it was.

It has been said that everybody still knows where they were and what they did when they heard the news of the death of John F. Kennedy.
Maybe it is the same with the death of Elvis?

Can you tell us where you were and what you did when you heard the news of the death of Elvis?

I was 13 - at home watching the news at ten on UTV in Northern Ireland - 6 hours behind Memphis time - I couldn’t believe it -I wouldn’t believe it - I couldn’t go to bed so I sat up all night waiting for a news update to say it was a hoax that he was still alive but had just been rushed to the Baptist Memorial Hospital again - by then that awful book had been published revealing the extent of his drug problems and his ill health and I knew he was overweight and ill I knew he had been rushed to hospital and saved many times but I couldn’t believe he had actually gone. I cried for a week I couldn’t eat I wouldn’t speak - my lifelong dream had been to travel to Memphis or Vegas to see him in concert - I had been a fan since the age of 3 - also when I heard him sing Teddy bear OP!!

I was living in an isolated community with no tv and can you believe not any radio either - I’m sure my parents would have picked up the news but they didn’t bother let me know (I was very small).
A couple of years ago I went to Graceland and I’ve been a fan ever since! What an amazing life and what an amazing era in US popular music!

Elvis is also well remembered in Germany: :)

Elvis Presley traffic lights appear in German town of Friedberg
"The King" is back and telling people when they can cross the road. The German town of Friedberg is the latest German city to transform its traffic lights with famous characters.

Did you go to the little white shack he was born in in Tupelo Mississippi too? It is humbling to see the 2 room shotgun shack and know his twin passed away there on 8 jan 1935

I didn’t get to Memphis for many many years treated myself for my 40th birthday and travelled on my own - most people there were German or Brits I met some lovely people Elvis fans are the best

I love listening to Elvis. I went to Graceland when I was little and it was so beautiful. I hope to go back and see it again.

Did you ever go? I haven’t been since they knocked down the heartbreak hotel and remodelled it all looks too glitzy for me now tbh

When you tour Graceland and see for yourself how much good E did it saddens me that people only seem to remember the drugs and final years - I truly believe that had he had people around who really cared for him they would have got him help and he would have made another amazing comeback like the 1968 one I always wonder what he would have done in those lost years

I still can’t watch the tv coverage of the funeral so so sad but my favourite place on earth is sitting by myself at his graveside early in the morning with the sun coming up

Ooh no I missed that! Will have to follow up next time I’m lucky enough to get to the US! Of course I read all about his humble beginnings in the displays at Graceland but didn’t know that visiting his original home was possible :)
