Hey gals, so I am a newbie here and have been lurking through some posts to see if there is already a response to my dilemma. It's time to ask for some advice now though. I have a budget of about £3k for a Chanel. I hear there is going to be another price increase in November and so I want one now before I totally regret leaving it again. I have a classic black lambskin woc which I adore. But want something that I can use regularly so am thinking of a large tote in black with the imitation pearls. It's big so I can throw things in it on the daily for the kids and work. Does anyone know if these are widely available? But do they lose their shape? I think I will be visiting the Harrods store.

I am feeling the Chanel 19 but I think that's over my price range. Adoring the velvet flap bag but it's probably too small for my needs.

If I am buying a Chanel I want to be able to enjoy it and not hide it away. Life is too short!

And in a slightly unrelated, I love the Saint Lauren LouLou medium in beige/cream with gold hardware but I have the chance to buy a black one with silver hardware and get a very decent discount . . . Should I do it or hold out for the colours I want?

Thanks in advance.

I think it's better to look at your wants, needs and your budget instead of just your budget. If you love the 19, how much is it out of your price range and is it possible to save up for it? I always forget the price of everything and only remember how much joy it brings me.

If you are not well off, it might seem absurd to spend let's say a couple of months income on one bag. But if you love that bag and will wear it daily, the cost is lower than setteling for a bag while wishing you could have or should have gone for the bag you originaly wanted.

You also mentioned that the velvet flap might be to small. If you want the most out of your bag, I won't buy something so delicate as velvet. Velvet is amazing, but not as an every day bag.

How amazing is the discount on the LouLou? Can you sell the black and make a profit? Black with silver hardware is the complete opposite from beige with gold hardware. I can imagine you will style them differently. Do you already have black bags in that size? Will you rather use this bag or the ones you already have?

YSL is often on sale. I think it's better to wait for the color you want. YSL bags arn't cheap either. Forget the discounted LouLou and put that money towards the 19 you want.

Thanks for the advice Egel. Much appreciated. I think I could stretch to a 19 and was looking at the sizes and realise there isn't much difference between the flap bag and the maxi. I've decided to stop driving myself crazy trawling the website and just go into store and try some out. I think it's the only way to figure out what will work for me. But at least I have a few ideas!

There is going to be another price increase but we just don't know when.. it could be as soon as the beginning of October, so yes it would be a good idea to head over there soon to see. It is typically in November... but they've been increasing random times and other countries have already seen their increase in the early September month. They indicated that the price increase might only be on SLGs and items that weren't recently increased (i.e., coco handle). Try on the bags and see what you love. If you want something you can wear on a daily basis then caviar would be nice and I agree with the other post to not get velvet. Velvet is very delicate and will start showing signs of wear quick (i.e., rubbing off of the velvet with wear). Velvet is also something you can't fix either. If you want something to wear on a daily basis, there's the mini reissue or the mini square/rectangle. These are within your budget. The mini reissue is nice because you can wear it in my different ways (shoulder, crossbody) and the leather is carefree more compared to others. The mini square/rectangle is something you can wear on a daily basis but it is only in lambskin. If you want the 19, then look into that too.. they just recently increased the price of the 19 (there were 2 price increases and it happened during the May increase). Good luck!! :)

Awesome thanks for the advice and especially on the velvet. I think I’ll have a look for sure in store but may have to just try it on and not purchase! I’m really like the 19 the more I look at it or the larger shopping bags which would be useful on the daily for me. I’ve booked a date next week to go into store. Can not wait!

If there’s something you love and you are contemplating buying it now or later then I would buy it now. But if it’s between something you like and something you love then I would wait for what you love, even if that won’t happen until the price increase.
