I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane and see what scarf lovers remember as the "best" season for scarves?

For me? Autumn/Winter 2017. I wasn't even collecting H then, but as I make my wishlist of past season scarves to find, I keep discovering that many of my must-have 90s seem to be from this season! I'm a fan of contrast hems, designs that extend to the hem without a plain border, and wildlife/florals, so it's no surprise this season is a winner in my books. Colors were great for me, too, I loved the bordeaux/petrol/vert family and the one with pale rose/bleu.
I either own or plan to track down:

What was your favorite scarf season?

Oh someone had a blue into the canadian wilds as their avatar & i love it!
All the cws are great, and often give a different look depending on which corners are highlighted!

Year of India was my favorite
That was 2008, right? I have a Carre Kantha CSGM from that year, it's wonderful! I suspect that having a themed year made it more memorable on the whole.

Fun thread! AW2020 was by far my most productive season. I have been actively collecting for three seasons. I bought 7 scarves during this past season. I attribute this to the great colors. I am on record raving about the botanica colorway, but I also loved the fun multicolor rainbow colorway and the blue/gold colorway this past season. The men’s scarves were also fabulous. Comparatively, I’m unlikely to buy anything this season - although I’m mulling over two.

I happen to own two from 1974, Camails and Imagerie, both thanks to the inspiration of PF members and they are both among my favorites, so I am going to choose this year. I have seen a couple of other classic scarves like Eperon d’or also seem to date from 1974 so it seems like a good year.
I guess I like more classic scarves in the sense that I am not really into the current busy asymmetrical designs that fill the square with detail. With Camails and Imagerie I like they are not your typical horse and carriage baroque motifs but that they have that late 60s/early 70s graphic and color boldness,

Yes! I have Toucans in Botanica, and it's stunning. I wish I'd been able to find Wild Singapore in that blue/gold cw, and I'm hoping that down the line I'll be able to pick up the Plumes en Fete CSGM in blue/gold preloved.

How beautiful! It's so fun seeing scarves from years past. It's amazing to me how H scarves can be at once timeless (you see an H scarf, you know it's an H scarf, no matter when it was made!) and also reflect the trends of the era. That brown/orange/cream Camails is so perfectly 1974--the color palette, the subtle plaid background, the graphic boldness--and also something I'd be thrilled to wear today!

Totally have to agree. I have some and want 5 of your six listed from this year! I’m new to collecting so I’m not sure what the collections are per year but I would be curious what else there was the year Parures de Samourais came out becaus maybe that’s my year too!?

I think the 90 (and maybe the CSGM, not sure) came out in SS2017! So 2017 was definitely fantastic!

then 2017 is the BEST year imo for sure! Not sure On “seasons” as much. I own the most patterns from that year. I just looked at my cataloging. ( I highly recommend the Airtable app. Another on here recommended it. it’s amazing)
