The madame is more sophisticated while the teddy is very fun and fluffy. The madame also has a much deeper v-collar which will expose you to the elements.Need help picking a coat! Which do you like better between these 2?
I’m 5’ 5” and small frame don’t know if the madame or teddy swallow me but I need a warm coat for my first nyc winter.
Is the teddy out of style?
Are there any other max mara coats that are just as warm or close to the warmth of the madame or teddy?
Thank you! Is there a warmer coat you would recommend for colder winter? The madame is more sophisticated while the teddy is very fun and fluffy. The madame also has a much deeper v-collar which will expose you to the elements.
The reality is that neither of these coats is a true cold weather coat but more of a mild European winter coat so don’t expect to be warm at -20C!
Madame looks better on you. It’s classy and elegant while teddy is a bit 2015.Need help picking a coat! Which do you like better between these 2?

Both coats look amazing on you! I'm also 5'5" and own both the Teddy and Madame. While they do have an oversized fit, I think that's part of the charm—I love the roomy look, and it’s so much more practical compared to tighter coats. I also find the Teddy super warm for really cold weather, but it doesn't block wind well. When it's windy, it isn’t enough. My Madame is still pretty new, so I’m not sure how it’ll hold up in different temperatures. For really cold, windy days, the only coat that works for me is my long, thick Moncler puffer.Need help picking a coat! Well there’s nothing warmer than a technical parka but you can get pretty close with a thick shearling or a fabric coat with an extra dense fabric (this option is pretty much unheard of without going mtm though).Thank you! Is there a warmer coat you would recommend for colder winter?

However, I think that for New York, either the Teddy or Madame should work just fine. In the city, you're often moving between warm places like shops, cafes, restaurants, or the office, so there's not much prolonged exposure to the cold. It's more about navigating between warm stops. I tend to reserve my Moncler for long, uninterrupted outdoor walks, like when I take my dog on two-hour strolls. For that kind of activity, nothing beats the warmth and insulation of a thick puffer.
They both look great on you!! I just got a Teddy myself and look forward to wearing in coming months. I also have a Manuela and find it warm enough for work or to walk/shop around NYC. On very cold days I switch to Moncler Moka (for work) or Canada Goose Parka when I know I’ll be standing outside for hours (watching kids soccer game for example.)Need help picking a coat! I also have a moka. Would you say the teddy comes close to warmth or is the moka still a lot warmer? Is the teddy still popular in nyc? I was convinced to get the teddy until the SA and some others convinced me it’s not as popular anymore but I know NYC is its own bubble in terms of style.
Yes good point! They likely wanted me to get a ludmilla, which I also love 😭.The Teddy isn’t the new kid on the block so it’s no longer trending but it’s definitely reached classic status. For example if you type in max mara into instagram, the vast majority of what pops up is people with Teddy coats. (Lots of recent posts from this year too)
As for feedback of SAs, I always take what they say with a major grain of salt, especially when they are sales driven and the Teddy coat is one of the cheaper options among their coat range. (Something to always keep in mind)
There isn’t a massive difference in insulation quality but IMO the styling differences are.Yes good point! They likely wanted me to get a ludmilla, which I also love 😭.
how is the warmth compared to the Manuela? Would you say it’s a slight difference or a big difference?
I have both, I've noticed that the Teddy keeps me slightly warmer than the Manuela.how is the warmth compared to the Manuela? Would you say it’s a slight difference or a big difference?
