Her storage system curls my hair: handbags kept in a jumble in plastic bins with no protective wrappings inside, all kept in a metal quonset hut that might not have climate control or ventilation - shudder.:-s
same - revolting, the mould in that hut !!! will go into the bags

Obviously you ladies aren’t reading the full article ... “Wood keeps most of her bags in an impenetrable, stainless steel bunker outfitted with electronic doors and alarms.” I love that a selection of these are going on display and on tour. How extremely cool! Thanks for sharing the article, @jbags07
Read every word of the article, looked at every picture, and viewed the short video clip. It is indeed a remarkable collection. The owner’s storage system is what makes me shudder. Some bags are kept in the owner’s living room, but the bulk of the collection is kept in plastic storage bins without dust bags or wrappers, in a steel bunker. This environment is not optimal for handbags. Such a shame to compromise the quality of the bags. Another thing that makes me uncomfortable is Wood’s seeking, purchasing and carrying fake bags.

Thank you for the article.

I find these collections very interesting and I like how she collects many bags because they're interesting not all designer. I like the one she made/embellished herself too.

At the same time I'm glad I sold some of my many (hundreds not thousands) of my vintage interesting bags around 5 years ago. I try to keep only what I carry or at least could see myself carrying again and my 'museum pieces' down to a minimum and try very hard to think about the longterm future of the piece - not just squirrelling them away.

Despite the subject of this article being about handbags, this is very disturbing to me. Hoarding is not collecting and is a sign of underlying mental issues. And, she herself said that she uses the purchasing of bags to disconnect from grief.

This seems like a sad life focused on the wrong things. I hope she gets help and not more encouragement to continue down the same path untreated.

I'm thinking the exact same thoughts. This is not healthy. She's trying to self medicate her issues by buying, buying, buying. All I can say is she'd be much better off spending her money on therapy.

That was my first thought too! I hope they are not developing condition issues...but if the air inside the hut is dry and climate controlled, it might be ok....

i happened upon the article and was happy to share it on this forum with fellow bag enthusiasts...i love also that her collection is so varied and based on the bags themselves and not the brands....and although they are sitting in this bunker, i love that she is moving toward sharing them with the public, and is looking toward some kind of permanent museum display .....

Yes, her bag collecting is definitely a coping mechanism and a hoarding issue, and not entirely healthy. But to amass such an amazing collection , and hopefully create a museum to share the special pieces, is very cool imo. And the thing about collectors/collections...it is easy sometimes for them to get out of control.......
