I wanted to just create a new thread to thank the ppl of tpf for their kindness in taking the time to help out virtual strangers over the internet with jewellery dilemmas.


After a lot of hemming and hawing, I decided NOT to get a sapphire ring just yet. Someone on here mentioned how it was difficult to get an adequate sapphire for less than 1K and I think my mom would prefer a great looking sapphire with her ring.


So....I changed my game plan and decided to buy her a nice cocktail ring in the meantime. I looked around for something and found this cute little piece. I have no idea about the specs other than it being 14k, but the diamonds actually seem pretty good.


I realize it might not be the 'hottest' style, but it's got some bling and she'll have fun with it going to her little parties.

Thanks! I know there's bigger and better out there, but I think this might make her smile a bit. She's been through so much in her life and now that I'm making enough money to start buying stuff for her, I feel obligated to do so.

Thanks! I hope she does. My mother LOVES diamonds but hasn't really gotten a gift in a very long time. I started to think about getting her small gifts of jewellery when I can.

Thanks a lot! I don't know if this is a good idea for a ring (outdated), but I think it's ageless if you enjoy wearing it.

It would make a lovely cocktail ring, great find. She will love it , esp. it's from you. When I got my 1st month salary I spent it all for my mom's fun ring and she treasures it. You are very sweet and thoughtful giving her such a nice gift.

You are such a thoughtful daughter, and I am sure your mum will absolutely adore the ring! You can't go wrong with something like what you chose, as it is a classic cocktail style ring that can be worn anywhere from a party to simply out to dinner. You made a great choice!

I agree with everyone else, it's such a lovely thing you've managed to do for your mum and I like this option better than the other ones anyway. Well done.

Thanks for your comments! I did the exact same thing when I got my first retail job :) I worked at Nine West and I basically bought anything new or cool for my mom.

Thank you very much. I tried to do something nice for her. We have our differences, but she deserves something nice when I can afford it.

Thank you! Yes, I was thinking the same thing about the usage. I think this ring is diversified enough for her.

LOL! Exactly! Thanks for your comment. I agree that diamonds always make a woman smile a little more. The diamonds were quite nice so the sparkle that came from them when I got the ring cleaned from a jewellery store was amazing!

Thanks for your wonderful comment. You know, I never thought about the transition from a simple dinner to a more significant event. Sometimes the two things do require different looks (especially how a statement piece sometimes isn't appropriate in a simpler dinner environment). You're absolutely right about how this ring can take her into either event easily.

Thanks very much for your input! I sometimes would rather get something for my mother than myself. I appreciate your consideration regarding the other 2 rings with sapphires and this new one.

I did present my mother with the ring and she absolutely LOVED it!!!!!! She's a diamonds girl and she just LOVED the sparkle those diamonds gave off.

It was sooo exciting to see this little old lady get super excited, put that ring on and tell me she's gonna wear it to all of her events. She hadn't been given anything nice for a long time.
