Hi Ladies,

Going through a difficult time right now. My father recently passed and I would like to purchase my first Cartier timepiece and have it engraved in memory of him (would be a casual "everyday" watch). I love the look of men's / oversized watches so I am leaning towards the Large Tank Solo SS Model... That being said I am very petite (5,4" / 110lbs.) with tiny wrists and don't want it to look ridiculous either.

Do any of you ladies own the Large size? I would love to see some pics of different sizes on peitite wrists but I am not coming up with anything when I try to search threads. I am seeing many francaise mod shots, but few solo. I also don't live anywhere near a boutique so I would have to purchase online. Ideally I would like to have Cartier engrave it, but then I would not be able to exchange for a different size if needed.

Perhaps the smartest thing to do would be to purchase the large, and then take it to my local jewler to have fitted + engraved. Thoughts? Pics? Thank you so much.

Sorry to hear about your father. I am so sorry.

I am a guy and my ex (who also passed actually) used to borrow my large Tank Solo all the time. Both guys and girls wear much bigger watches now so don't let the word large scare you. I would say unless you are a very proper lady with a very conservative fashion sense, I would go with the large.

Another question would be: If I do purchase the Large (not engraved by Cartier) and I feel it is "too much" am I able to do an exchange with the excess $$ posted as an account credit? TIA

I am truly sorry for your loss! I know the feeling of losing a father, may he rest in Heaven and watch you and your family from up above!

I kinda dont understand your question too well ATM. Are you asking if you may exchange or get a refund for a purchased watch after wearing it on several occasions from the Cartier boutique if you do not engrave it?
Answer: no, once worn and used it is considered non-refundable and exchangable.
If you purchase from and authorized dealer, maybe.
Better to try on watches, take pics, and see what looks best. Best bet is to take a pic of each style and asking on the forum for their opinions, but truly the last decision is yours to make and we want you to be comfortable and in love with your purchase! It is an expensive one, but hopefully a wise investment! GL and keep us posted.

@808Asianguy - I'm not sure why my computer isn't allowing me to "quote" now but this post is directed at you :)

Thank you so much for your sweet note!

No, that is not what I mean... What I was asking regarding Cartier's return / exchange policy, is that in the event that I purchase the Large size, and find upon opening (the new / unworn watch) that it is too large, if they will allow an exchange. And since the medium costs less, if the amount over that (spent on the Large) would essentially be a store credit. So I am only asking about exchanging the brand new watch for a different size. I will try to call them today.

I completely agree that the best way to know is to try on in store. That being said, I live in a very small town in Eastern Washington. There is no longer a Cartier in Seattle, only small boutiques that are authorized resalers and I have yet to find the Large Solo size in stock (example - Ben Bridge in Seattle only has a Medium and XL). That in combination with Seattle being a 5 hour drive from me / kids / work etc etc I figured I would save the headache and just order online.

At this point I am going to forgo the engraving in the case I end up with the wrong size. Thanks!

UPDATE:

I just spoke with the sweetest lady at Cartier customer service and she totally put me at ease. She let me know that they have an amazing return / exchange policy and if I need to send it back in for any reason (in perfect new condition, of course) that they send all the return packaging with it. She also let me know they include paperwork to send it in for free engraving services after the fact.

She also offered insight regarding the size. I guess the jump between the medium and large is minimal while large to extra large is HUGE. She was faily confident the Large size would be my best bet. Now if they could just make the Large size automatic ;)

Hello theclassic,

I am so glad to hear that you got some more info about returns and exchanges. I am assuming you like this watch?

They do come in automatic in just these 2 sizes. I love the look of a leather bracelet, but if you do get all steel, they can change it to an all leather later with you ending up paying for the services. I hope everything works out and you are happy with your purchase. If not you could print out the watches and cut the print out from the paper and make like you are trying them on :graucho:, but I know it wont be as close to the real thing. Also, they have the exact measurements, so you could cut a paper for the watch dial and place the print out and paste it on the paper. I know it sounds silly, but a 5 hour drive is too much! LMK how it goes. Hugs and hope all is well! Thank you

She was 5'4" quite skinny with tiny wrists. Of course the watch looked bigger on her than me but that's perfectly acceptable now [emoji4]
