Hello my dear Cartier lovers!
For years I’ve eyed the 18k gold Cartier tank with the black alligator watch strap. Every time I had an opportunity to buy it, I’d hold off thinking “well, I could always use the money to treat my family to an extra vacation” or “I could always put this money towards [insert blank]”.
So this year my fiancé was like “no more putting it off; if you want it get it - you deserve it.” So we decided I’d get it for our anniversary and when I went to the website to show him which model I wanted - it was gone!
I called several boutiques and the customer service line and they said I wouldn’t find it in any of the boutiques because it’s discontinued and completely sold out.
They offered the silver tank from the new “Watch” collection but acknowledged the black/gold combo is discontinued and Cartier has no plans to release a gold face with black strap model.

Anyway, long story short, buy when you can and don’t hold off because of unnecessary/unwarranted guilt. Here’s hope I can find one on the resale market.

Does Cartier do worldwide search and order from other stores in other countries?? I saw both the small and large 18k gold with black alligator strap available on the Japan website.
Yes, coz I just requested my SA to check the stock of the tiny panthere bracelet, but unfortunately it's already discontinued and out of stock globally. If is was in stock, my SA said they can try to transfer the item.

Seems the tank solo are still available in HK.

Just checked ar Cartier.hk, not all Solos available which are indicated as being in stock but could have ordered 3 of them. Unfortunately, Cartier HK lets you just order within HK.

Did that with Hermès. In one country it was out of stock so I ordered it just from another countrie's website but if you're quick your SA might get her hand on one.

You would be better off buying a pre-owned Tank Louis where the entire case is 18k. There are a lot of them in excellent condition on the pre-owned market. They come in quartz and manual wind.

Prices are 7 to 8k EUR / USD from what I see for a decent condition and serviced. A new Solo went for less than 3k if I'm correct but hey, I'm likely comparing a manual Louis to a Quarz Solo.

About 12 years ago, I asked my local boutique (I'm in the US) about getting an item that had gone out of production, and the stock of them was sold out. I asked if they could get one from outside the US. I was told that they could not transfer in items from other markets, even if other markets still had one available. It will be interesting to see if that policy has changed.

Where we are both located and which watch we are looking at definitely makes a difference. In the Atlanta area, the yellow gold ladies Tank Solo went for $4700 new from Cartier. A pre-owned, serviced, in like-new condition with a lifetime warranty ladies quartz 18k Tank Louis starts at $4700 and goes up to $6000. Most of the watches at the online pre-owned watch stores in the Atlanta area were running $4990.

Within Europe this is definitely possible, even outside the EU. Moreover, Cartier proposed ordering from overseas. This was for a more expensive item, though. They need to deal with customs and the like which obviously adds some cost to them.
