I stopped by Cartier today to try on watches to commemorate a big work accomplishment and have been mulling over what watch to get the last few months. I am targeting to decide by the end of the month between a small Tank Francaise in Yellow Gold or the small Tank Francaise in Yellow Gold with Diamonds. The one without diamonds looks a little softer/more rounded at the corners of the bezels and the diamonds looks a little sharper and reads more white than yellow at the face.

I am going for a feminine look. I normally wear all white gold or stainless steel as I am a dark winter (cool tone olive) but the TF in yellow gold feels modern and fresh and feminine vs the Panthere YG felt more yellow because it’s shiny and polished and felt a tad more mature and not super in line with my skin tone.

If I were to get the TF in YG w/o diamonds I would likely also get the Panthere in stainless steel. Need help deciding especially since the YG TF is likely to get more scratched at the top without the diamonds.

I much prefer the one with diamonds on you—it really stands out against your skin and gives off a beautiful light. Plus, the diamonds should help protect the bezel from scratches. I think the plain one might show wear quickly since there’s a lot of exposed gold, especially with the thicker edges. Also, since you wear a lot of white gold, the diamonds help tie the look together with your engagement ring and other white gold jewelry.

I personally have always preferred the tank to the Panthere, but on you, I love the YG Panthere with diamonds. It’s softer and more feminine. I don’t love the stainless steel nor either of the tanks on you. You’re also saving money technically, bc you wouldn’t really need to get the stainless steel, since you’re getting the same watch in YG. Congrats on your achievement!

Congratulations!! :yahoo:
Definitely a great way to treat yourself!

While I personally love the Tank with no diamonds, if scratches really bother you then I understand your choice of going with diamonds.
I just gives me a weird feeling to not see diamonds go completely around the watch face. Feels off to me.
No diamonds feels very elegant and mature to me. And I like that look.

But maybe I am a no diamonds on watch kind of girl. When choosing my Panthere my husband really liked the ones with diamonds but I felt they were too flashy lol .

Thanks everyone! A lot to consider here. I myself have said the diamonds ruin the lines on the TF but in the stainless but also because to me the SS is more rugged looking so diamonds on that one feels contradictory.

I have an appointment with my SA later in the month.

Anyone with the gold no diamonds that can show me the wear / tear after a few years?
