I have been hearing a lot about gold values and the increasing cost, but not much about platinum. Does that mean that platinum jewelry doesn't hold its value as well? What do you ladies think?

I wondered this too. But my best guess is that platinum is too scarce to be a commodity for trade? Its also historically never been traditionally viewed for investment. Also it's much harder to use than other metals like gold and silver so it's harder to rework and melt down for reuse...

All my speculation because I don't know too too much. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

But in the realm of jewelry I think both are desirable and platinum seems to be what is currently more preferred. Most people, or well for me at least, Metal in jewelry is for my enjoyment and not so much an investment. Diamonds however is a whole other story! Hehe

It's quite high, I usually notice one is normally high and one is usually "low" and quite a disparity between them, but the gap between them is surprisingly small now.

platinum appreciation in value much higher than gold.

1. in the long run of uses, gold will lost its weight while platinum does not.
2. Platinum is rare
3. for next few years, platinum may increase the value much more than now once scientists, engineering, etc. find different ways and benefits of using it, and banks also register it as currency trading market.

Platinum is far more expensive/valuable than gold, because of its scarcity.

I have my WG wedding platinum plated every 2 years or so. The last time I did it it cost me close to 10 euros, while the previous from that was only 4 euros. And it is only plating!!! 250% up!
