OK, so by now, you've probably read the news items about the allegations against a Hollywood director that have been hitting the web over the last week or so.

There have been numerous references to similar claims on many threads on this board.

And the stories and claims go back almost to the beginning of Hollywood and the music world.

Now Kirsten Dunst is saying those that are victims more or less asked for it and that she doesn't give off that vibe.

Question is, can anyone prove such allegations either way in such a closed world as the entertainment business? Everybody knows there are certain things Hollywood either doesn't talk about or actively tries to keep quiet.

The 'casting couch' isn't a myth, it really exist. When you speak out against things, you get blacklisted.

These kind of situations... I like to think it goes both ways depending on the scenarios. There's the one with the power, there are people who really want to move up in the ladder and ask for it, there are people who want to do it on their own terms and abilities, etc. Some may think doing it this way is an easy pass to getting the part you want but I think it's naive and selfish to have this expectation (after all nothing in life is just freely given to you). I think it's really about how much you can resist the pressure, the temptation, and having that power to fight back for being sexually harassed. And that's goes without saying that anyone who have this power over you or pressure you to do any of those is a clear sign you should stay far far away.

What is this about? Can someone enlighten me? Something about sexual harassment of young actresses?

What is he accused of?
He's not accused of anything, his name just came up in one of the stories attached above. As much as I find the casting couch stuff despicable, it's the stuff regarding kids that bothers me more. Isn't there some guy affiliated with Nickelodeon or Disney who everyone knew was preying on some of the young (I mean REALLY young) performers? there have been rumors about Amanda Bynes, Hayden Paniterre (sp) - Really horrific stuff if true. (I know some of the stuff about Hayden is in her thread, I'll try and find links to the other items...)

Yep re: kids. We've just had a very high profile case here re: an older actor here on a sitcom molesting younger co-stars and family members.

The kids are older but they finally spoke out and he was found guilty last week on five counts

More disturbing though was the web of people protecting him because he was a valuable asset. The older kids on the show were threatened and told to shut up.

Despicable.

The attorney for the man accusing "X-Men" director Bryan Singer of sexual abuse has filed additional, similar cases against three Hollywood executives.

Garth Ancier, David Neuman and Gary Goddard were named in three separate complaints, filed by attorney Jeff Herman in Hawaii, accusing them of sexually abusing Michael F. Egan III. Last week, Singer was accused in a federal lawsuit of drugging and sexually assaulting Egan in the 1990s.

Ancier is a prominent television executive who has held senior positions at Fox and NBC. Neuman is a former senior Walt Disney television executive. Goddard is the founder of a firm that designs theme park attractions, hotels and resorts and produces live shows.

They could not immediately be reached for comment.\

An attorney for Singer has called the lawsuit against his client "absurd and defamatory."

The lawsuit against Singer filed on behalf of Egan claims that Egan was forced into a "sordid sex ring" in the entertainment industry in which underage boys were supplied alcohol and drugs. Egan alleges that the assaults took place at parties in California and Hawaii when he was 17.

The lawsuit also says Singer promised Egan jobs in film, commercials and other projects. The plaintiff is now 31 and lives in Nevada.

The claims made "about Bryan Singer are completely fabricated," Marty Singer, a lawyer for the director, said in an email last week. "We look forward to our bringing a claim for malicious prosecution against Mr. Egan and his attorney after we prevail."

Singer's next big-budget movie, "X-Men: Days of Future Past," is to hit theaters May 23. Singer broke onto the Hollywood scene with the 1995 thriller "The Usual Suspects."

Herman was also the attorney behind the 2012 lawsuit filed against former Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash.

The Bryan Singer case will have far reaching implications. There's talk that what happened to Brad Renfro on the set of "Apt Pupil" directly contributed to his drug habit and eventual death. He was traumatised.

Bryan Singer's business partners are also extremely shady.

There are also less verifiable rumours that Ryan Murphy is concerned. Cory Monteith was apparently off the drugs until Murphy took him to a Singer party. Whatever happened...Cory was back on the drugs shortly after. If the Singer case goes to court..all these details will become known.
