Hi Ladies

Hopefully it is ok to post this here (feel free to move if its not).

So it was suggested that I start a thread about the progress of me and mine shopping for an engagement ring.

First off let me start from the beginning, this is me and my mine and we have been together for 7yrs.

I have know him since forever and can imagine being with noone else.

We have been dabbling with the idea of marriage for a while now, but have been putting it off what with work, holidays oh and the fact that we don't live together. But 2009 is going to be the year of change for us. We are going to look into moving in together etc which I am excited about, but also a little bit scared.

So anyways on to the topic in hand, like I said we dabbled in the idea of a ring before and actually found the perfect one, but disaster struck (won't go into detail) and we had to put that idea on hold. So DB suggested to me last week that maybe its time to go and look at rings again, to which I happily agreed.

We are going to Hatton Garden on Friday to go and see some rings (from a website I saw online) at The London Victorian Ring Co. Am so excited as I have narrowed it down to see these three (in order of preference):-

The hard part after choosing the style will be choosing the diamond, as the company are manufacturers, rather than a store.

All three designs are Edwardian and I just love how they are different to your traditional solitaire style. I have always said that I want something that is different and unusual.

So what do you guys think? I will keep you all updated as things progress and hopefully on Friday we will have ordered one :D Am so excited.

Gosh is that the time, gotta be going to the evil place that keeps my paycheck.

Chat to you guys later

Very pretty rings, Stefy, but I only see 2 styles - the first and third are alike, no? I prefer the first/third, as it's a simple, elegant style, although the second one is also very pretty.

Thanx for pointing that out :D have edited the third pic.

The first one is my fav as it is a flower and leaf motif. DB likes the third because it is simple and not as busy as the other two. But you never we I could end up changing our minds because it will look totally different in the "flesh".

The third one is very pretty, but I still prefer the first one. It just has such a nice flow to it, elegant and simple design that still has plenty of style to it. It looks like the leaves may be diamond cut, which would add a nice metallic sparkle to each side of the diamond. Nice choices!!

Oooo Stefy how exciting. I like the first one too. Mind you, make sure you go in all those lovely jewellers in Hatton Garden & try lots of ring on. You will know when you try a ring on that it's "the one".

Thanx guys. Tiffanystar we both went to quite a few stores a few months back and DB was so overwhelmed, he had no idea that there were and could be so many jewelers in one place. I of course was right at home (I used to drive this way with my dad every day when I was younger - used to call it Jewellry Street).

Sally_s: thanx for the compliment, that is my fav pic of both of us, was taken at my 21st.

I love how you guys are all going for the first one, everytime I look at all three I always keep looking at that one more :D

it doesn't come with a center diamond pre-set, right? you can always ask the jeweler to source one for you. :) if not, i know a few ladies i can put you in touch with who can help you find one, if that's what you want. just PM me :smile1: what size center does the setting take?

Thanx thats really sweet of you :)

It says this on the page Centre diamond size range: 0.50 - 0.70 carat

Ok ladies, so today was the big day. Went to the Diamond Borsch (sp?) and looked at a few designs, including the above.

We picked out the second design, but a modified version which is more dainty and delicate looking. The stone is 0.5ct and is a VS2 Colour D.

DB is going over finances and is hoping to order on Monday (they aren't open at weekends).

I must say that out of all the others, this one was gorgeous! Different in style and just perfect. I have rather small hands so did not want anything too busy looking. They even do wedding bands that slot in well with the ring, so when the time comes to get those babies, we will defo go back there. Tried a few on with the ring and it went rather well in plain platinum but also looked good in diamond wish bone style.

So hopefully by end of the year I will be able to post my new ring :D (DB might propose when we go away in Dec - thats why so long)

Ciao for now
