How do you ladies have such beautiful pictures that show how lovely your jewelry is?

I've taken a few pics and I can't get them to look clear enough to show the colour.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a Sony Cyber-Shot.

my tips:
no flash
lots of natural light
use the MACRO setting - usually has a flower icon
if you can't get a great close up, get a great shot and then zoom in and crop w/ editing tools/software

I have a Sony Cybershot, and I don't know why, but when I turn off the flash (even with MACRO setting) the pictures come out a tad bit blurry vs. when I turn on the flash. :cursing:

ditto ditto ditto! :okay: I like to take my shots outside when weather permits.

also, if you have a tripod...use it! even if your camera has "image stabilizer" I've discovered that even a little handshake-yness on my part will blur a shot, (especially in macro, for some reason). If you don't have a tripod, find something stable to rest your camera on while you take the shot. I tend to put my camera on the table, and then bring the object into the camera line up.

If you don't have anything stable to rest your camera/camera hand on, do your best to hold the camera still....and hold your breath while you take the picture. I know it sounds silly, but I find that I'm steadier in my shots if I wait to exhale until after I've clicked the picture. :sweatdrop:

I looove the macro setting. I swear I take more pictures in that mode than anything else! LOL :shame:

It's tempting to put the camera super close to whatever you're photographing, but I find that if I'm at least 10-12 inches away, it doesn't turn out blurry. I have a Casio Elixim.

^^ Really? When I'm in macro, I get my best shots in under an inch away.... I guess it depends on your camera. I have a Canon powershot... but my 1st camera was the same away... i forget what brand it was...some cheapie type.

i used to have a sony cybershot and a casio exilim. now i have a canon powershot sd870is. the canon takes MUCH better shots in general, especially in macro. it might just be harder with your camera. lots of sunlight & a tripod really help though, so good luck!

Oh, I have the Sony Cybershot too. My best pics were outdoors and about 12 to 18 inches away from the piece. I didn't even use my macro setting.

Same here, I completely forget about the macro settings, because pictures turn out so gorgeous outdoors, I don't need to change anything.

I don't think you need a new camera, you just need to learn how to use it to take the best shots.
