Hi, does anyone know whether Tadelakt is a durable leather?
Will it get scratches easily?

I'm considering buying a Kelly in either Togo or Tadelakt.
I like Tadelakt because it's a smooth leather, so I can use it for more formal occasions too. However, I also like Togo very much because it gives a more casual look and I will be able to use it more often; and also it seems to be a quite durable leather. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

There are several threads about this leather if you do a search.
Wears well, does scratch a little, takes color REALLY well. I have it, like it.
Would read the other threads, lots of info out there.

What color are you thinking about? I just got a tadelakt bolide in and gorgeous bi-color, mainly parchemin and ciel (previously thought it was blue jean.) I was worried about scratching, but with the light color, it doesn't show much. It is a gorgeous finish and is so beautiful. I would love to have a Tadelakt Kelly someday. I do have a togo Kelly already, in Blue Jean! I like the more structured look of tadelackt.

It is a relatively new leather (introduced the last couple of years). It takes colour beautifully. And like most smooth leather, it will show scratches easily.

Go for it Luxemadam. I have a few clutches in tadelakt and love them... I love how luxurious they feel and the "shine" and intensity of colours in this leather is outstanding. Tadelakt is a very smooth leather so by its nature, it will scratch more easily. But I feel like I get as many scratches on my tadelakt clutches as my swift clutches. However, as my tadelakt clutches are mostly bright coloured, I honestly don't really notice much of the scratches till later...LOL. I think tadelakt is more suited for clutches though because I would imagine having to baby a larger tadelakt bag. As MsP has said, tadelakt is a newer leather so it's hard to tell if the leather will patina over time, resulting in less noticeable scratches. =)

I'm with the rest - I love how tadelakt takes color brilliantly! It literally shines.

It does scratch easily but I think most scratches can be rubbed away easily. They can hardly be seen unless you examine them at a close range, so it doesn't bother me much.

If you're looking for a brighter color Kelly, I think tadelakt would be a good leather choice. I haven't seen many neutrals in this leather, but I think it'd be a waste not to have a pop color when opting for tadelakt.
