I am debating between the sweet MOP WG earrings and the vintage size. Anyone bought one and wish they had the other and why? Or did anyone purchase any of the Alhambra earrings and find they don't really reach for them as much as they thought e.g. due to wearing diamond studs/hoops mostly? (I have the 5 motif MOP WG bracelet.) Thank you for your input!

Vintage Vintage Vintage!!!! Sorry for being so emphatic. I always thought I wasn't an earring person. I really could care less about earrings until I purchased my first pair of MOP last month. Wow!!! I wear it every week now. I was in the same dilemma 6 months ago and I am so so happy that I decided to go with the Vintage size. It is gorgeous and has a very classic and unique presence to it. You will not regret it. The sweet was tiny and there was no "impact" to it. I ask for forgiveness from anyone who purchased the sweet size. I am not criticizing. I am just sharing how it feels for me. Each person experiences jewelry differently. I was so happy with the vintage size that I ended up going overboard with it. I got the hammered yellow gold, MOP and later the Onyx style. PS had to sell a lot of my handbags and SLGs to afford them all at once. LOL

I think it’s preference, depends on the look you are going for and your size. I wear sweet Alhambra earrings almost daily. The vintage size look silly on me- reminds me of a kid trying on her mom’s jewelry. On other people they are nice, but I personally look better with the sweet size. I think the best way is to try both on for yourself and decide.

It depends on what you’re going for. I have a pair of sweets that I often wear but mostly in my second hole. I find them
Very versatile with being able to rotate which holes they go in and blending with other earrings. I wasn’t a fan of the vintage size for me

I appreciate all your input! Unfortunately, NO store has ANY earrings to try on. I do have sweets in turquoise, but I'm here holding up a motif from my bracelet to my earlobe to see if I'd like the vintage size. It's not giving me the true look though, and I want to be sure before I invest in either.

I have the vintage size in mop and love them. Unless one has very tiny lobes, I generally think the vintage looks best. They are still small earrings. I basically wear mine when I wear the matching bracelet (and more often in summer). I wear diamond studs and gold hoops more, though.

For me I like both sizes and wear both. My sweets are pave yg and I wear them with my Alhambra yg necklaces as an accent earring. They don’t have huge presence but that is something I like as I just wanted a complementary piece for my 10/20 motif necklaces. I love that they are so light and I can sleep in them. They are my go to travel earrings as I don’t need to take off and can wear them while being active.
My Alhambra pair are wg hammered and they have a lot more presence them my sweets. Easy to take on and off. I have very small lobes so I do feel the weight of them and can not wear them when I am doing active things as they swing.
The pairs serve different purposes for me.

I have both pave sweets and vintage in WG. I’m super casual and prefer low key so the pave sweets are my daily wear, and I can sleep in them though I don’t anymore. I think it completely depends on your preference, look, lifestyle and purpose. I prefer light weight and forget I have them on earrings. But I also don’t go anywhere and work from home. The vintage size of course makes more impact.

I prefer the vintage size as the sweet is too small for me. The clasp and posts are different as well. The post on the sweet Alhambra is less comfortable as it is thicker. But, you can ask Van Cleef to change them to longer thinner posts.

I wish there was a size in between Vintage and Sweet. Vintage earrings seem (to me) too flashy at times (especially if you have small earlobes) and Sweet ones look too small, almost like for a child.

I have both and think the sweets have more presence if it’s in a stone. I have the turquoise.

I skipped the pave sweets for the vintage a few years ago and I don’t regret it. I’m one of those people who has grown into larger sizes and am selling stuff I can’t see.

I like using the sweets in an earring stack. I think the decision is definitely a personal preference. What you currently have, how often you plan to take them out, size of your face, wardrobe, etc.
