Hi, ladies. I normally frequent the MK forum, but fell in love with a Swagger so now I'm over here at the Coach forum! My husband picked up the bag for me for my birthday and I am so in love! I'm having one issue, however. I can't for the life of me get the handle on the front of the bag to fold down. If I try hard enough, I end up bending the leather rather than actually folding down the handle. Because of that, I now have a slight crease in the leather above where it attaches to the hardware. I've attached a photo.

For comparison, I have no problem folding down the back handle. It almost seems like there's too little room for the front handle to move with the hangtags attached. Is this normal? Is this something that should work itself out over time? I've watched many reveal videos on YouTube and I haven't seen anyone have a problem with folding handles down even with the hangtags attached.

I'm picky about my bags and feel like I shouldn't have "issues" with them if I pay FP. If a bag is going to have a handle, it should work the way it was intended! Now if I want to wear the bag crossbody, I can't fold that handle down, which is kind of a PIA. Not to mention, now there's that crease on just that side that's going to drive me nuts! Do you think Coach would exchange this for a new bag (I don't have the tag attached) or do I just need to give it time to wear in?

My burgundy chain swagger folded down easily the very first day. My black on black took a few days of use before it folded down easily. I just got the metallic 27 and it seems it won't budge a bit. I always use the long strap but typically always keep the handles up so it's not a big deal if the handle never folds down on my 27 for me. Your bag may just need a few days to soften up.

Thank you! I'll give her some time.

I have the regular sized colorblock in Nude and my handles do go down. But they were stiff at first. It sounds like some go down and others don't want to budge.

I have the same problem with mine. It takes some time to wear in. If it really bothers you, you can try moving the hang tag or removing it for a couple days to see if it makes a difference

I couldn't even remove the hang tag because it was in there so tight. I didn't want to damage the leather by having to rip it out. I actually ended up exchanging the bag. There were a few creases in other places that I wasn't 100% happy with. My SA understood completely and brought out a new bag for me to look over. This new one is perfect! No creases and the handles both go down with ease! Thanks everyone for the input!

I think it may be the type of hardware. My friend has the denim in light gold an it folds down fine..but my other friend and I have the gunmetal hardware and it's hard to fold down

Nevermind, just saw your picture again and you have gold hardware. Hmm...I wonder what could cause it on some bags

Studying the photo I have of my old Swagger and the new Swagger, it almost looks like the links on the chain connecting the hangtags were slightly bigger on the old Swagger. That would explain why I was having such a hard time. I'll just assume that was the problem because the bag I have now is perfect! I love Coach customer service!

Ahhh makes sense. Thank you for clearing :)

I applied leather moisturizer inside the handle tabs and there's no problem with folding down the handles anymore. If you're still having this problem, I suggest you apply leather moisturizer to that area. Mine was making a squeaking noise too every time I would try to fold it down...
