I was surprised when I searched tPF for this cult Japanese sandal brand and came up with nothing. So thought I’d start a thread.

They’re especially popular with men as a urban street-wear brand. Supposed to be super comfortable with their Vibram soles. I love the collaborations they’ve done...recently with the Danish designer HAY (that I tried to buy when they dropped on Aritzia’s website yesterday but they sold out before I could even enter my cc info :annoyed:) and with Doc Martins. I’m debating getting a pair of olive Depas or Guts. Noticed Lululemon is using them on their models.

Anyone have any Suicokes? How do you like them? Any modelling photos would be great!

Please share your review, especially on sizing/fit, as I’m nervous about unisex sizing. I have narrow-ish feet and don’t know if a men’s shoe will fit me properly. Love the colours offered in the HAY’s collab. Reminds me of the multi-coloured Tevas.

I love the look but I've been put off by my one disappointing Suicoke experience with this blue pair of beaded Cecilie Bahnsen X Suicoke.
I'd already tried and returned a size 37 and I was certain that the 38 would fit, but they didn't work at all (strange fit on me and very uncomfortable) and I couldn't return them (:annoyed:) so they were sold. Hated letting them go, they were so cute and the soles are very comfy.
I tried the 39 in another colour but they were too big so I gave up!

Probably/maybe if my feet were narrower they'd have worked but definitely buy from a store with easy returns/size exchange is my advice.

Oh, that’s too bad! Those are so pretty!

They arrived and I’m very happy! Like @HiromiT said, kinda like Tevas but with the suede straps and thicker soles, they look way chunkier. I haven’t gone for a long walk yet but have been wearing them around the yard (thus you’ll see they already are a bit dirty in the pics) and they’re very comfortable. I don’t feel like anywhere is going to dig in or rub while walking, and especially like the patch of neoprene at the back for comfort.

Re sizing: I’m a pretty consistent 7.5 US/38 Euro size, regular width (slightly on the narrow side). Always buy a 8 US in Nike runners. According to the Suicoke website, they recommend sizing up and using their guide by measuring the mm of my foot length, I could have gone for a 7 Men/9 Women size. But I read a lot of Reddit posts (mostly written by guys) saying tts or just round up for half sizes, so I ordered 6M/8W. And fortunately they are just right for me. I probably could have even gone the bigger size for more room at the heel but I prefer smaller with less sole showing around the foot. The raised bit on the footbed that looks like it’s supposed to go between the toes and ball of the foot actually is hitting right on the ball...probably with the larger size this would be the proper fit but then there would be almost an inch of sole showing in front of my toes. Maybe that’s part of the look and some may prefer that. I prefer the smaller fit and don’t think (fingers crossed) the raised bit on my sole will be a problem while walking. So, long story short, I’d say get your regular size if you prefer less sole showing around your foot or size up if you have wider feet and/or like the chunkier look.

Excuse the pics...just took them myself this morning and in need of a manicure lol

Those CB ones are so pretty and such a good blend of glam and utility! What a shame they didn’t work out. ❤️

Wow, they look great on you! I like that amount of space at your toes. That’s how I like my sandals to fit — no toe or heel overhang please.

Thanks for the detailed review. I didn’t realize the footbed has definition and isn’t completely flat. Based on that and @Straight-Laced’s experience, I’m hesitant to buy online and will need to pop into Holts to try them.

Enjoy and wear yours in good health!

Thank you! I just did a walk with them for close to an hour and they were comfy. At first I thought that hump on the ball of my foot might be a bother, but by the end of the walk it was pretty schmooshed down and almost felt like acupressure :amuse: !

If you can’t get to Holts soon, you may wish to try to order online...they do offer free returns. Mine came with a return label already printed out. The HAY collab ones are sold out already at Aritizia and the Suicoke website, and limited sizes at Holts online. They’re also at Ssense but $25 more there for some reason.

@foxgal - Nice, you look ready for summer!! Good to know about free returns with Holts. I haven’t shopped online with them yet and wasn’t sure if their e-commerce is running seamlessly.

Will post if I end up getting a pair!
