I've been toying with the idea of getting a "mommy necklace" to represent my 2 kids. I like the idea of initial necklaces/charms and after looking around at the ones available, I find that I like the Tiffany Notes initial disc charms best cos the script is so pretty.

I would like to get 2 of these in yellow gold. But my question is: will it look strange to wear 2 of these charms on one chain? And will doing so scratch up the charms very badly? Should I instead put one charm each on a different chain (perhaps a 16" n 18")? But this would mean that I wear 2 necklaces and I prefer to keep it to just one.

My other option is the Tiffany interlocking circles necklace in gold (one circle for each kid), but between the two, I prefer the initial discs. Cos the interlocking circles is not really my style, if u know what I mean.

Your opinions are much appreciated. Suggestions of other designs I can look into are also welcomed :smile1:

I have a Tiffany Notes M necklace in SS. After wearing it on it's own it looks to have a few very very light marks/scratches so I would imagine wearing two overlapping would scratch. If I was you I'd wear them on different length chains as you suggested just to be sure, unless the scratching doesn't worry you. Not sure how gold scratches compared to SS. The script is really classic & pretty on these.
I also have two other M initial necklaces, not sure if you've seen the posted in other topics? Here they are if you haven't!ImageUploadedByPurseForum1366447681.331610.jpg

I was thinking of doing the same thing for my two kids but in ss and the sales associate told me they would definitely scratch each other. I know gold also scratches but I don't know how much compared to silver. You should ask them what they think ... I think the two discs on one necklace would look nice though. Helen Ficalora (might be spelling that wrong) also has initial disc charms and hers are a satin finish so I don't think scratching will be so obvious on those.

Also my friend has the interlocking circles necklace which her mom got for her and she (her mom) got them to engrave their initials on the inside of the rings. I haven't seen the engraving, which must be pretty tiny considering the dimensions of the rings, but I thought it was a sweet gesture.

I guess the scratches will bother me if they are severe enough, so prob 2 diff chains would be better. I particularly like your small "M" necklace :smile1:

I did consider getting them in silver too, as silver is cheaper n I won't feel the pain as much if they get scratched up! :p have u decided if u will get them?

Yes, I thot it would be nice to have their names engraved inside, only this particular style of necklace isn't really "me".

I wear two small gold initial discs on one chain, they are gold and they have some little scratches but it dosent bother me, wearing two chains would bother me more because of the tangling and untangling all the time

I didn't get them in the end. Didn't want to be aggravated by the scratches. They are quite polished so the scratches would be obvious. I put my kids initials and things they are into on my pandora bracelet which is what I wear when I'm feeling sentimental :smile1:

Yes, that's my concern too - the disc charms are very shiny n polished so I think scratches will look more obvious. I'm also looking into getting a bracelet instead of a necklaces since I have quite alot of necklaces already.
