Suge Knight SHOT Multiple Times After VMA Party turns Violent

5:45 AM PT -- Suge is out of surgery … according to family sources. We're told Suge was shot 6 times. He's currently in ICU, but is expected to recover.

Shots rang out at 1OAK nightclub in West Hollywood at around 1:30 AM Sunday ... and Suge Knight was shot twice and taken to the hospital by ambulance where he was rushed into surgery ... eyewitnesses and Suge's family tell TMZ.

A source close to Suge tells us ... he was shot in the stomach and arm and apparently in other places as well.

Tyson Beckford, Robert Ri'chard and Apple de Ap all tell TMZ ... they were inside the pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown when they heard 4 shots ring out inside the club.

Suge walked out on his own power ... a cop spotted him and walked the rap mogul to the police car where Suge sat. Suge was then put in an ambulance and taken to a local hospital.


We do not know the seriousness of Suge's injuries. Multiple sources now tell us Suge was one of 3 people who were shot. At least 1 is in critical condition. Sheriff's deputies had guns drawn as clubgoers exited with their hands in the air right after the shooting.

The night started with tension. An hour-and-a-half before the shots, Game came to the club and he and his buddies got into an altercation with security guards ... there was a full-on fight. Game tried to get in was denied and left, but his buddies stayed behind. We do not know if they were involved in the altercation.

Suge has so many enemies in the industry and in the streets, people still link him to killing Tupac. No one deserves being shot but cant say the police are going to have it easy with finding the shooter and cant much say that with his extremely wrap sheet that they will be able to piece together which one of his enemies industry or street would have done this

Suge signed a deal with the devil. That man is responsible for so many deaths, I'm surprised he's still alive and not behind bars for life.

Suge Knight shot overnight at a West Hollywood nightclub

Former rap impresario Marion “Suge” Knight was shot early Sunday morning at a nightclub in West Hollywood, a law enforcement source told The Times.
Details of the incident were unclear, and Knight's condition was not immediately available. The source said the Death Row Records founder's wounds did not appear to be life-threatening.
The shooting occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. at a nightclub in the 9000 block of Sunset Boulevard. The club was hosting a party in honor of Chris Brown, who has a new album coming out.

On Sunday morning, Sunset Boulevard remained closed off as detectives investigated what happened. On the side of the Oak Club was a huge sign advertising the Brown party.

Sheriff's officials said two men and a woman were wounded. They were taken to hospitals and are expected to recover. Detectives from the West Hollywood sheriff’s station were investigating.
The shooting took place the night before the MTV Video Music Awards, which are to be held Sunday at the Forum in Inglewood.

This is not Knight’s first encounter with gunfire. He was shot in the leg at a 2005 pre-VMA party hosted by hip-hop artist Kanye West in Miami.
And in 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas as he rode in a car driven by Knight.
Knight also has had a history of run-ins with the law. He was sentenced in 1997 to nine years in prison for violating terms of probation from an earlier assault case.
He was released from prison in 2001 after serving less than five years but was sent back to jail in 2003 for violating parole when he hit a parking-lot attendant.

Knight filed for bankruptcy in 2006, citing civil litigation against him. The following year, his Malibu mansion was put up for sale.
He was arrested in August 2008 in Las Vegas on suspicion of drug possession and aggravated assault.
In February 2009, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery. His plea allowed the dismissal of two felony drug charges and one felony coercion charge stemming from the 2008 incident.

Video Attack Isn't Enough to Prosecute Snitches get Stitches

Suge Knight is way better at dodging charges than bullets … because even though he attacked someone at a pot shop, and it's caught on video -- he's not being prosecuted because of "insufficient evidence."

We broke the story -- which was pretty awesome -- Suge got denied at the Medstar Collective in L.A. back in February because he didn't have a medical marijuana card. He went ballistic and slugged a guy in the face -- which you clearly see on the video.

But prosecutors tell TMZ ... they're not filing charges because they believe video alone won't cut it. Who knows ... maybe someone was stupid enough to throw the first punch that wasn't caught on tape.

But we're told the reality is this ... prosecutors need witnesses and if you know anything about Suge, you'll understand that no one is talking.

As we first reported … Suge was shot multiple times early Sunday on the Sunset Strip, and after lifesaving surgery he's recovering in a hospital.

Still … no one wants to get Vanilla Iced.
