Study says Leiber considered most prestigious handbag brand

I'm actually more surprised that Prada is #3? I'd put Chanel before Prada...maybe this is just from that survey of the particular demographic, not what the majority of handbag-carriers think.

i can't believe people are surprised vuitton isn't in the top 3 - you can't be prestigious when you're the mcdonalds of luxury and their bags are mass made.

i wouldn't have guessed leiber either. i find most of her bags gaudy and tacky, basically casino night bags for rich old ladies. or first lady bags and the only first lady that ever knew how to dress was jackie kennedy.

I have always admired her handbags/clutches...but then like many of you, I'm not in the market for them since I still can't imagine where I'll be using one.

Lucky I saw this pair of sunnies in Macau during my recent trip, apparently they're new to her line. I just had to get them!

I'm attaching pics...just to share...I hope you don't mind.:flowers:

at least I can use them more freely than her clutches, easy to dress up and/or down as well:P

attaching a few pics of Leiber's clutches...photos "borrowed" from NM

I think Leiber's clutches are amazing - I'd love to get one eventually! I can't justify the cost on something that I use so rarely. My Hermes bags are used almost daily.
I agree with the comment about Prada being #3 on the list?? I would totally have put Bottega Veneta or Chanel in that spot instead.

It's interesting that the article didn't mention it, because LV was on the list. The Luxury Insitute web site has the full list (alphabetically) here with the original press release:

Whoever came up with this list doesn't spend any time on TPF. Where are Balenciaga and Jimmy Choo and Mulberry, as well as Marni, Goyard, VBH and Derek Lam? But Brighton and Dooney & Bourke make the list of "luxury" brands?

I think this survey is dumb. Surveys in general can be rather questionable, since you don't know who they asked or how many people they asked. I don't agree with the way the list is ranked at all. It doesn't seem like any of us do.

Well if those brands weren't included, it is because those women don't care much for those brands. Just because people on here like those brands does not mean women everywhere think those brands are great and prestigious. I never thought of Balenciaga, Mulberry, or Jimmy Chooas being prestigious when it came to handbags. Those brands are just more trendy than anything.

Missisa07, just because a few people don't agree with the rankings doens't make the survey any less valid. I think all of us should be aware of that. I personally like Judith Leiber. I would not consider it the most prestigious, but I can see why they would feel that way. The clutches are wonderful. I love the colors and designs.

Their bags are certainly not more mass made or more available than f.ex. prada which was in the top three so that argument makes no sense at all. However, seems like vuitton is more prone to the effects of fakes.
