Seems everywhere I look are studded bags. I really like the look and purchased one. Contemplating another studded bag by a different designer, but am wondering if it will be too much. Do you think it is just this year's trend or 2 years from now these bags will look dated? Would love some opinions on this.

The problem with all those studs is that the bag is very heavy....
Lots of my friends now look at the weight before buying a bag.
We carry so many things in our bag today that we know it should not weigh too much....
I think the trend won't last...just because of this..

Again, as someone mentioned, it depends on the style and design. They can look timeless to me, if they're understated and simple.

Wait long enough...and it will be back in style again, if it ever goes out of style. :)

Or, just wear what you like and who cares?! :)

I agree on timeless if there are just a few or placed in a good way:)

I think the shoes are more likely to trend and date (if they haven't already :-s ). They seem to be everywhere, designer, contemp wardrobe and high-street

Studs on bags are so far gone (I think of Sonia Rykiel or Gucci studded bags) they're not particularly fashionable anymore anyway, even though I don't care and wear mine anyway.

For me it's more about the outfit as a whole that the 'thing' which dates the look (if you KWIM?)

Coach is doing studs in a big way this fall. I have my eye on this bag - I guess I don't really care if it's a trend because it is small and unique:

Still haven't made a decision but it hasn't been released yet. I need something to go with my blue leather moto jacket.....

Agree - I go for the lightest bags, like LV coated canvas, I don't even like leather due to the weight.

It depends entirely on how they are executed. Balenciaga is all about studs, but they aren't overdone, and they aren't coupled with designer name, logo or monogram. They look classic and beautiful, have for years, and will for many more IMHO. Other brands (sorry, Coach and MJ) have never pulled it off.

I think Marni has designed some lovely pieces with studs, and they can sometimes be found at a considerable discount.
