Hey all,
Just a PSA for anyone that has purchased a studded tabby 26 - the clasp on it can not be changed :crybaby:

I bought the bag for myself as a "christmas present" from DH in early November and my mom purchased me a tortise clasp to give to me on Christmas. I fought to remove the clasp tooth and nail the other night before deciding to take it into the Coach store in KOP. I think the SA thought I was making up stories. However SHE couldn't get it off and ended up calling the manager who confirmed " the studded tabby is the only tabby that the clasp cant be changed on"
Wahhhhh. I was looking forward to a unique custom element on my 'Tabs'
Yes well, clasp was returned for a store credit...

Oh no! My SA did say only certain SKU's had the removable clasp and that the others were glued in, but I thought for sure the studded would be part of the customizable ones! Maybe if you have a handy person they can carefully drill out the screws so you can remove or a bit of solvent to dissolve the glue? The screws can be replaced by visiting a hardware store so it's just a matter of getting those original buggers off!

I got the screws off no problem and can slide the c clasp down, however the studs are obstructions. The clasp itself isn't wide enough to fit OVER the studs to slide off. They act like a non release parking brake. I tried sliding multiple items between the clasp, studs and leather to ease it off - no dice
I purchased the tabby when it was first released and my mom got the clasp the same day so I think it was a learning curve even Coach hadn't experienced.
It stinks because it would have been a fun way to change the look of the bag. Guess there will be another tabby in my future :P

The Studded Tabby will not and has not left my collection...I just may see what colors are released for spring and purchase a second one :smile:

I love this one just like it is! It's a fav design...edgy classic.
Just took the C clasp totally off the KF Tabby top handle I got this week with the extra 20 & took it from gold to oil rubbed bronze. Another tedious project but worth the outcome.
