I'm always on the hunt for BV bargains, and feeling like I can do many clean-up jobs, I thought I could handle my latest project, which was the cleaning and repair of a studded wallet. Alas, I'm way more confident than my abilities sometimes - ergo, Modern Leather Goods in NYC to the rescue (where Bottega Veneta, and probably others, send their goods for repair and cleaning). Once they received my wallet and called to give me the cost, it took them slightly less than two weeks to repair and return to me.

I do not understand how an expensive wallet from 2012 can get in this shape - I thought perhaps a tribe of booze-addled chipmunks had stolen it and dragged it off down the street, but I digress.

Photos to follow ...

Cost for this magnificent repair and cleaning: $175.00. Which, combined with what I paid, made it way less than paying new. AND - this wallet is hard to find; I've only ever seen one other, and I had that one, too! (shouldn't have let it go, but - ya know, stuff happens!)

Strangely enough, the inside of the wallet was just fine.

Oh, I should say - and this is funny - when Tony called me he said it would be hard to clean around the studs, but he would do the very best he could, and I'd say he did -

OH, I see what I did - I'd made an album, but I set it to "Private", so only I would see the photos - duh. My apologies, everyone, for the initial screw-up! :slaps self on head:

Before and after photos...

There are 6 pictures here in this post? And 1 picture in the post where they sent the leather edge strip back to you? If so, I see all the pictures fine on my iPad.

What a neat looking wallet!
Congrats on having it rehabbed back to what looks like new condition.
What year was this one made? Curious how long the previous owner had it for. They must have been a power user. I wonder what people do to get the edge of a wallet or clutch almost completely worn off. Not that there's anything wrong with it, just curious. It's great that they use their BV with such vigor!

Nix the question about what year it was made. I saw you said it's from 2012. Wow!

Yes, thank you for letting me know you can see all the photos!!!

And your comment about using it with vigor - I like that, and suddenly, I can forgive the previous owner.

"Use with vigor" - yes. ::nods head::

Indiaink, just amazing! So glad you found another wallet in this style. I saw another post where you said it was no longer in your collection. Do you find you use the wrist strap often?
